GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann: ‘God, I’m a Loser’

arah Palin may have been the central figure in Mark Halperin and John Heilemanns 2008 presidential campaign chronicle Game Change. But its Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) who gets prominent coverage in the duos new book Double Down about 2012. And in an excerpt posted on The Huffington Post Friday, the authors share a window into Bachmanns psyche after a devastating Iowa Caucus defeat.
Apparently, getting just 5% of the vote after winning that states influential straw poll the previous year, was too much for Bachmann to bear:
Sitting in her campaign bus, in the same seat where she cried with joy in August, she now sobbed over her drubbing. God, Im a loser, Bachmann said. God, I turn people off. With two debates ahead in New Hampshire, some of her advisers thought she should consider staying in the race. Bachmann wanted no part of it. Lets draft a withdrawal speech for tomorrow, she said.
Bachmann withdrew from the race the following day, telling her followers, Last night, the people of Iowa spoke with a very clear voice, so I have decided to stand aside.

(24,347 posts)Seriously, it took her till the Iowa caucus to figure this out? That being a dead-eyed crazy stalker who hates gays and black people and whines about lightbulbs might be "off-putting"?

(21,130 posts)I would have thought "God" telling her to run in the first place or some other excuse would have driven her on.

(406 posts)I'm taking the claim with a grain of salt because she's now ten times the amount of bonkers compared to when this supposedly took place. Such a "touching moment" would have initiated her to learn from her mistakes and reel it back in instead of what she's done since then - removing the gas tank and replacing it with a nuclear reactor.
Or, if this did indeed take place, she lost it because she got caught. That's probably the likely scenario. Thunderc**ts like her are only concerned with getting caught and nothing else.
Just wondering.....

(16,993 posts)Apparently that revelation hasn't bothered you enough to step down from your seat so that your constituents can actually have something other than bat shit crazy representation, much less change your crazy talking points or just shut the hell up.
Most of America thinks you're a joke. Totally crazy. No one with any intelligence at all pays any attention to what you say.
I know you're not running for office again (thankfully), but you really should just step down now because you are part of the problem. As such, you are only making things worse. Resign. Immediately. It will be the first American/humane/responsible thing you've done in office.

How she became a lawyer I just cannot figure out. This applies to her and Ted Cruz and various other crazy politicians who got through law school and passed the bar exam and ---none of that stuff about the civil rights in the Constitution, or basic legal concepts, soaked in.
