Cory Booker gets elected massively, then they turn around and vote this douche, that runs around and screams at teachers who ask valid questions.

Well it makes me feel a lot better about Alabama idiot politicians embarrassing us, if you guys put a jerk like this in office. Jeez, find someone with manners, and you Booker voters need to get the heck out there and keep him out of office.

It's our fault we elected the jerk in the first place, but this race has been strangely free of any national involvement on behalf of Barbara Buono, and this just after the love train for Cory Booker. Even here on DU, no one wants to talk about it. Talk about just leaving someone out to die...

and a southern Republican.

I could tolerate and believe that most Republicans from my area (I live about an hour north of NYC) have many of the similar values that I have. In fact, I know that they do.

My state senator (former) Steve Saland was one of a handful that defected from the republican mainstream and voted in support of gay marriage. As a result, he lost his seat during the 2012 elections. I actually voted for him as I respected the true leadership and sacrifice he made. He stood up for what was right and got his ass handed to him as a result.

Nan Hayworth, the republican congresswoman from my area was more willing to work with democrats than most. However, I was still happy to see her replaced with a democrat in 2012.

Most hard-line republicans view Christie as a traitor.

Typical.

In the modern Democrat Party, overrun as it is with New Democrats, standing for anything really is an uncomfortable notion. And it's not a party that rewards loyalty. You know the old saying: Republicans fear their base and Democrats hate theirs. Well, that's not just true of the base. In general, when a very popular politician runs for re-election, it is hard to find good candidates of the opposing party to run against him or her. But in this election, the Democrats got a great candidate: Barbara Buono. She is currently only a state senator, but she has the polish of a national politician. And she's run a good campaign. No one expected her to win. It would have taken a major error on the part of Christie to allow that. But it is absolutely unconscionable the way the state and federal Democratic Party have abandoned her. "Unconscionable" but hardly surprising.

Thank you, NorthCarolina!

I don't know how this guy has Jersey voters eating out of his hands with his poor policies (education and corporatism especially) and 95% destructive Repuke agenda. Add in the fact he has the corporate media eating out of his hands and you have a tough task to overcome. There has been a depressing inevitability about Buono going down...wish she had more dollars and a full GOTV press

My DIL is from NJ and she says he's very popular, even Democrats like him. I don't get it either.

Fortunately, I don't think the general election presidential primary voters will support him. IU could be wrong but I suspect they'll swing even further to the right and pick Cruz or Paul or Rubio.

Mon Nov 4, 2013, 02:13 PM
Nov 2013

Early in his term we were socked with a blizzard that dumped 3' of snow on the state. Where was Christie? Cavorting in Disneyworld with his kids, phoning in the snow removal efforts from the line at Space Mountain. He was even bitchy about it when reporters reminded him that his constituents were stranded in cars on the Turnpike. Meanwhile Cory Booker was Tweeting all over Newark, personally shoveling out cars and delivering diapers to stranded mothers and hot meals to seniors.

Christie tanked in the polls. Democrats smelled blood but Christie had learned his lesson.

Along came Hurricane Irene. Christie yelled "Get the hell off the beach" and voters swooned. The big storm spared the shore but Christie was all over the place making sure that aid got to the flooded communities in the northern part of the state. He showed that he could play well with Democrats, working with President Obama and Governor Cuomo.

He might have slipped again in the polls except for once again, mother nature came to his aid in the form of the most devastating and photogenic hurricane since Katrina. Hurricane Sandy allowed Christie to play (very capably) the disaster manager, the guy who gets things done, the politician who can act like a grownup and who is not afraid to go against his party.

Voters like that. I like that. Mind you, I'll be voting for Buono because aside from his work as a disaster manager, I oppose everything Christie stands for but I can definitely understand why less partisan people would vote for him even though they don't like his stands on the issues.

The people of NJ must be crazy to re-elect this jerk. It must be an east coast thing. His attitude would not fly in California.

Interesting I watched the view today and they actually brought up he was connected with Bernie Madoff and talked about rmoney passing on him as a VP because he had a lot of skeletons in his closet that would have come out in the general but here he is going to win again in NJ. Sorry if you vote for Christie you're crazy. what he did in Bookers senate race costing the taxpayers millions of extra dollars instead of consolidating the election should have disqualified him as a viable candidate. The fat ass coward.

CC knew that people were going to come out of the woodwork to vote for Booker and so split the election. He's banking on no one voting, just like in 2009, when Dems were demoralized by the McGreevy scandal and not excited by Jon Corzine.

Evil, but very effective.

Plus he knew the sleazy South Jersey Democratic party bosses were going to throw the race for him and refuse to endorse their own party's candidate. Then someone "convinced" Booker that it would be better to be Senator than Governor, leaving the field completely empty against CC.

Another perfect storm, weathered by a master manipulator. Sickening, especially when everyone knows he's got his eye set on 2016.
