Two armed juveniles held after breaking into Denver middle school: cops

Source: NBC

Two juveniles were taken into custody at a Denver middle school early Tuesday after they were seen entering the grounds overnight armed with rifles and backpacks, police said.

A SWAT team and bomb squad officers surrounded Noel Middle School, in the northeast of the city, after cleaning workers reported seeing two intruders carrying guns at about 10 p.m. local time Monday (midnight ET).

Security camera footage showed the pair carrying “long rifles” and bags, Denver Police Chief Robert White told reporters in a briefing that was partially uploaded to YouTube.

Apart from the cleaning workers, the school was empty at the time.

For an old a fart like me who has watched the whole sweep of our decline since the end of WWII, it's kind of dumbfounding. This WAS a great nation, a great place to live, and we basically threw it all away to feed our egos.

Edit: well, not really "our" egos, rather Washington's ego.

always been perfect, I don't think any country is, but it seems people used to work together trying to make the US a better place. Now, for example, we see politicians divided by hatred, and the republicans, for example, trying to come out with the most hateful fest, trying to out do the next one. Either directly or indirectly this becomes absorbed into peoples minds and those on the edge start to take action.

Yes, it's been chilling watching the US being thrown down the drain. There is definitely a metamorphose occurring and I do wonder what the net/net of it all will eventually be.

But, no thanks, fuck nostalgia because most of it is isolated bullshit-

You think the fact we have made a lot of progress on social issues justifies the economic inequality and totalitarian politics we got in exchange?

That statement sure looked like you wanted to go back to the days of leaded fuel

To be honest, I was born in 1975 and to date I think the best years were 1994-1999 but that may have been the partying I was doing Don't worry, our President will get the economy back to those levels.

I inferred from her initial statement that there were in fact, some things about the time of her youth that she is nostalgic for, and misses, and wishes some parts of that value system were here in the present too.

I didn't however, infer from her post that she wishes and longs for a return, en-toto, to the complete value systems of the past.

I find it odd that anyone would read the latter into a most innocuous and benign statement...

And who knows... Firechief may be a fuel brand again soon.

The cops found them later.

Neither the weapons nor the bags were found when the two were detained, White added.

However, the Denver Police Department later posted to its Twitter feed that the weapons had been found during the subsequent search of the school. "What appears to be assault rifles are more than likely BB guns," the update said.

I'll bet if they were in possession of them when the cops finally cornered them, the outcome would have been far different.
