9 people shot at Detroit barber shop, at least 2 dead

Source: Detroit Free Press

Two people are dead and another seven were injured during a shooting at a barber shop on Detroit’s east side tonight.

It happened at Rockie’s barber shop in the 5200 block of East Seven Mile around 6 p.m., officials said.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said all of the victims are male, but no ages or names have been released. Police previously said there were three fatalities but changed that to two just before 8 p.m.

Police are looking for at least two suspects and two cars, a black Chevrolet Impala and a white Chevrolet Impala, that may have bullet holes in the back, and have a stretch of the road closed off near the scene.

Not in support of it, but as illustrative of the issue of guns and ammunition in American society.

This story can be any day of the year in various localities around the nation.

Tolerance of the products involved is unacceptable.

Stop tolerating them.

Police have apprehended a 'person of interest' who will be questioned about a barbershop shooting that killed three people and wounded several more.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said Thursday that the man was wearing body armor when he was arrested on unrelated felony charges in suburban Rochester after the shootings Wednesday.

Craig says the man is a convicted felon and "person of interest" in the shootings at Al's Place Barber Shop on the city's east side. His name wasn't immediately released.

The third victim, a 37-year-old man, died early Thursday at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Sgt. Mike Woody said.
