It's Official, I filed! (Wendy Davis)
Source: Wendy Davis Texas.com
Today I filed my candidacy for Governor of Texas. Its full steam ahead from now until next November.
I am running because we need to create quality jobs in Texas, improve education, and give our veterans the respect and care they deserve. I am running because the promise of Texas made it possible for me to go from a tiny trailer, to a successful business, to the state Senate. But today, that same story might not be possible. I want to ensure that every Texan has those same opportunities.
And our campaign is a story all its own. Not mine -- but yours.
Its the story of Stephanie: I'm a wife, a mother of two, and a graduate student who is also employed in my academic department. When I graduate I will have a burdensome student loan to pay off when I should be concerned about saving up for my children's college.
And George: I have been a carpenter my entire working career. I have become more and more disappointed in our elected officials over the last decade. I feel the working people have all but lost their voice.
When we close the book on our campaign, I want its pages to be filled with stories from all Texans.
I want to hear your story, too. Click here to let us know what youd like to share.
One young Texan sent us a story. I have to say, if our campaign was a book, this would be on the very first page -- I cannot vote because I am too young, but I know that Wendy Davis will create a bright future for myself and my peers, along with future generations.
That single sentence sums up exactly what were trying to do here. Except for one detail -- I cant create a better Texas alone. Well create it together.
Thank you.
Wendy

(64,022 posts)She makes me feel better about being a 3rd generation Texas woman. I really mean that. I'm glad she's there, fighting the good fight. I gave up on fitting in with Texas long ago, when I left for college and never came back to live there. I just couldn't. JFK's assassination just sealed the deal tighter.
Good on you, Wendy! I expect great things from you...possibly, one day, the White House...who knows?

(10,597 posts)thousands of women in pink tennis shoes! Hell, I'm in a state far away from Texas and I'm looking for some pink tennis shoes! I believe that Texan women can turn that state blue simply by wearing pink tennis shoes. And looking forward to the 2016 election, women and girls all over the US could turn to pink tennis shoes.
Wee need a Pink Tennis Shoe Revolution!!!

(84,486 posts)she is making this campaign all about the people of Texas. She has dignity, honor, grace and one kick ass attitude.
I believe that Wendy Davis will be turning Texas on its ear and dumping the GOP on their rears. Texas, you don't need to secede, you need to turn blue!
Go Wendy!

(89 posts)My Father-In-Law and his wife are already lining up support for Ms. Davis in the Houston area. They are hardcore Dems who are working their butts off to get Texas blue. We in Seattle are sending money and coffee beans down their way.
