Brooklyn musician kills bandmates then turns gun on himself
Source: WPIX
WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (PIX11) An overnight shooting rampage in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn left three men and the shooter dead .
Investigators say the shooter and the victim were all in an Iranian band called the Yellow Dogs. Cops say it all started just after midnight when a gunman launched the bloody attack.
The New York Post is reporting the shooter was an Iranian musician who was upset over being thrown out of the band and used a military assault style rifle to get his revenge.
The shooting went down at 318 Maujer St., the address on the groups Facebook page. Thats where the shooter armed with semi automatic rifle with a 20-round magazine opened fire on someone outside the building before going inside where he fatally shot three people.

Ranchemp.
(1,991 posts)who had left their country because of fear of being jailed for playing their music, they would've been better off staying in Iran and taking their chances there.

I met someone in Amsterdam who thinks the U.S. is a dangerous place, and he won't come here because of all the gun violence.
But I'm sure there are those who would tell him off, call him a sissy, but from an outsider's view, our gun culture is pathetic.

(3,194 posts)Don't kick out a band member if he's a gun owner.
And whatever you do, don't blame the gun.
Oh....and this could have happened just as easily with a knife.......and background checks would not have mattered......and the media is just trying to publicize these stories to promote anti-gun policies......remember, it's the person, not the gun, so keep your damn hands off mine.

(3,194 posts)This guy was pissed off about something. In most cases, that would be the end of the story.
But this is America. So somehow he obtained a gun, and took out his revenge by killing 3 people, then himself.
A crazed man, a gun, and a few seconds, that's all it took to wipe this promising band off the map forever.

(29,503 posts)It's not as if guns don't exist outside America. It's not as if bands don't break up, and piss people off.
There is a LOT more to this story - whether that's serious mental illness, crystal meth, a love triangle - SOMETHING more going on than what's being reported.

(3,194 posts)I'm not sure what is so complicated about what happened.
Times are such that you can look online each day and see numerous stories like this. It doesn't matter what was going on inside this guy's head, only that he was able to gain access to a weapon designed to kill, and he took full advantage of that.
In the end, I'm sure it will be as simple as a personal grudge he held with these other musicians. No love triangle, no meth, just a disturbed individual with a gun.
Were it to be a love triangle, or other such circumstance, it still would not relieve the fact he was able to get a gun, and he used it for the purpose which had been designed.
And guns most certainly exist outside of America, but here they are basically a fact of life. I suppose since many are comfortable with that fact, perhaps we should readily compare America to some of the more friendly gun loving countries in the middle east. After all, it's not like people don't shoot and kill each other with guns in exotic locales like Iraq, Afghanistan or Syria.
I feel so much better knowing that guns exist outside America, and I suppose at least if I get blown away here, I am fortunate enough to be shot dead in the good ol' US of A.
