Ted Cruz's Father: Black People ‘Uninformed' And ‘Deceived'

Source: Huffington Post

Evangelical pastor Rafael Cruz, father of tea party star Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), called black and Hispanic voters “uninformed” and “deceived" during a speech to conservative activists in February.

After attending a panel on minority outreach at the FreedomWorks grassroots summit, Cruz, a Cuban-American, born-again Christian, spoke at the conference. He noted that a previous speaker "mentioned something about Hispanics being uninformed or deceived."

"Well, the same thing is true of the black population,” Cruz said.

Cruz also suggested how blacks and Hispanics should vote. “As a matter of fact, if we could communicate the truth, not only to the Hispanics but to the black population, all blacks should be Republican," he said.

You know, the ones that think Obama was born a Kenyan, Republican economics help the middle class, Saddam was behind 9/11, global warming is a myth spread by the powerful renewable-energy industry to destroy the fledgling, scrappy oil companies, ObamaCare has death panels and an army of brownshirt ObamaBots armed with hypodermic needles, and Bush won Florida fair and square.

Cruz is quoted saying "if we could communicate the truth". As far as I know, nobody is stopping them from communicating the truth though that would fly in the face of the GOP spokesman that was caught on tape saying "miscommunication works".

Cruz said. “We have been destroyed by political correctness. And we must learn to tell the truth unequivocally.”

The 74-year-old tea party icon also attributed “all the civil rights” that African-Americans have achieved to Republicans.

“Let’s talk about the black population. All the civil rights that the African Americans have obtained have come from Republicans,” Cruz said. “But you know what, Democrats took the credit.”

So, here is the unvarnished truth - SOUTHERN WHITES WHO ARE NOW THE BASE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY were the engines of racism in this nation - and they continue to serve this function. Previously, they were in the Democratic Party but they left when Democrats enacted civil rights legislation.

The Republican Party specifically appealed to this white, southern racism, as Reagan made clear when he made a STATE'S RIGHTS speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi, where James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were MURDERED 1964 as a way to start his campaign.

With Reagan that day - John Bell Williams, a well-known segregationist, and Representative Trent Lott, who got all hard thinking about Strom Thurmond's 1948 Dixiecrat campaign. The Mississippi Republican national committeeman told Reagan's campaign that this city, known for this repulsive incidence of murderous racial hatred was a good choice to appeal to "George Wallace-inclined voters.”

Reagan was shitting on the memory of those young men who were murdered. And appealing specifically to racists.

Which is what this repulsive little turd, Cruz, is trying to pretend is not reality.

The southern Democrats who controlled Congress enforced racism and hindered JFK's attempt to bring segregation to an end.

And, as LBJ noted, by signing the civil rights act, Democrats had lost the south for a generation. (at least.)

...and this is exactly what happened.

Fuck this lying sack of shit. There is not one thing godly about this man. He is evil incarnate.

Reagan: I believe in state's rights. I believe in restoring the balance in govt....to restore to states and local communities functions that belong there. I'm going to try to change federal regulations and the tax structure...

14. Truman's support for Civil Rights started the bigots' defection from the Democratic Party

even tho he was also a bigot, as was Abraham Lincoln - but both of them saw a greater principle in the issues at hand that was a greater truth than the cultural bigotry in which they stewed.

http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/highwayhistory/road/s20.cfm

Whatever his personal views, Truman believed that as President he must rise above them. On December 5, 1946, he signed Executive Order 9808 establishing the President's Committee on Civil Rights to evaluate the state of civil rights, compile a report, and make recommendations "with respect to the adoption or establishment, by legislation or otherwise, of more adequate and effective means and procedures for the protection of the civil rights of the people of the United States." Charles E. Wilson, the president of General Electric, chaired the committee. Truman's advisors, whether from the North or South, were certain he was committing political suicide by tackling the issue. [Truman , p. 570]

Even before the committee released its report, Truman addressed the NAACP. At 4:30 p.m. on June 29, 1947, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, he addressed 10,000 delegates to the closing session of the 38th annual conference of the NAACP. The President talked about civil rights and human freedom:

It is my deep conviction that we have reached a turning point in the long history of our country's efforts to guarantee freedom and quality to all our citizens. Recent events in the United States and abroad have made us realize that it is more important today than ever before to insure that all Americans enjoy these rights. When I say all Americans I mean all Americans.

He summed up his view on the Nation's responsibility:

As Americans, we believe that every man should be free to live his life as he wishes. He should be limited only by his responsibility to his fellow countrymen. If this freedom is to be more than a dream, each man must be guaranteed equality of opportunity. The only limit to an American's achievement should be his ability, his industry, and his character . . . . Our immediate task is to remove the last remnants of the barriers which stand between millions of our citizens and their birthright. There is no justifiable reason for discrimination because of ancestry, or religion, or race, or color.

Truman's biographer, McCullough, said it was "the strongest statement on civil rights heard in Washington since the time of Lincoln."

Truman's strong statement led to the formation of the Dixiecrats, Strom Thurmond's unapologetically racist southern Democratic third party that carried Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina, and marked the end of the south as a solid Democratic voting bloc for Presidential elections.

This was re-emphasized with the Kennedy election, when he had to fight against the southern white protestant fear of a Catholic president. Both Kennedy and LBJ supported (however tepidly) civil rights - the truth is that politicians didn't want to deal with the issue but could not avoid it.

The 1960 election was the first in which a Republican presidential candidate received electoral votes in the South while losing nationally. Nixon carried Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida. Though Kennedy also won Alabama and Mississippi. slates of unpledged electors, representing Democratic segregationists, would award the states' electoral votes to Harry Byrd.

In 1964, Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, voted against the Civil Rights Act.

LBJ's election became a "realigning election" -

For political scientists, 1964 was primarily an issue-based realignment. The classic study of the 1964 election, by Carmines and Stimson (1989), shows how the polarization of activists and elites on race-related issues sent clear signals to the general public about the historic change in each party's position on Civil Rights. Notably, while only 50% of African-Americans self-identified as Democrats in the 1960 National Election Study, 82% did in 1964, and the numbers are higher in the 21st century. The clearest indicator of the importance of this election, was that Deep Southern states, such as Mississippi, voted Republican in 1964. In contrast, much of the traditional Republican strongholds of the Northeast and Upper Midwest voted Democratic. Vermont and Maine, which stood alone voting against FDR in 1936, voted for LBJ in 1964.

So, this lying sack of shit should sit down and shut up.

17. African Americans " Uninformed and Deceived ".
Thu Nov 14, 2013, 11:21 AM
Nov 2013

As an African-American and an Independent voter I am appalled that this man of God would stand before the people of Texas and blatantly lie. This isn't the 1800's but 2013 and African American voters along with Hispanics are some of the most informed Americans in America. We listen to both sides and then make an informed decision based on what has been said and acted upon along with what we feel are our best interests. That we do not contemplate where our needs and desires should lead us is at best childish. Mr. Cruz from all that I have read and heard from him has anointed himself and his son as the true spiritual and political leaders to lead us to the promised land. They think that we are at home all day watching cartoons and eating lobster while all the while sucking at the teet that is America. He should look at his own mirror and see what the rest of this country sees and that is a meglomaniacal father and son who would have us all believe they are the true coming of Christ and the Lord. He must forget that we know there are false prophets among us and we consider he and those like him the false prophets. You cannot continue to degrade and yoke under the populace for the sake of controlling the masses and their finances for the sole purpose money, status, and control. They both should understand that while they may fuel the ignorance of a few they will not be able to control those who are the true believers with his infantile methods. When they are at home at night they revel in the lies they tell each day as sit in their vaults sliding up and down their mountains of gold. These people do not truly believe in the words of the Lord or of Christ for if they did, they would not be able to sleep knowing the sins they have burdened themselves with. African-Americans have seen the devil and his demons for who they are for a lot longer than they have. They say they know who we are and the reasons for why we do them nothing could be further from the truth for they will not come to our communities. They laud among themselves the riches of the Earth that are money and power but lack the wisdom to see the true richness of the Earth that is Community, Truth, Fairness, and Compassion. If Cruz family were truly spiritual they would not be doing the things that would go against the teachings of Christ for Christ was a man who walked among the poorest of the poor to bring all the wisdom of his father. Christ said that one will be surprised at those who live in heaven and those that will dwell in hell forever. There is still time but they must delve deep within themselves to find the true spirit of Humanity.
