Rep. Gohmert upset Obama’s Israel policy not based on Biblical prophecies

Source: Raw Story

A tea party lawmaker cited the Bible during a speech Wednesday on the House floor criticizing the Obama administration for its treatment of Israel.

“There are many who have been aware of Scripture, and it has often been a guide in our relations with Israel,” said Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX). “’Some of us believe that the Bible is accurate. Certainly, so many prophesies have been fulfilled, and if that is true, this administration, unless they can find a verse that accurately says that those who betray Israel will be blessed, then this country is being dug in a deeper hole by this administration and its betrayals of Israel’s trust and Israel’s friendship.”

Gohmert said President Barack Obama had urged Israel to enter into a nuclear nonproliferation treaty with other Middle Eastern nations, which he said would require the nation to disclose and give up its undeclared nuclear weapons.

“This was viewed and discussed as being the first time in people’s memory when the United States, by and through its administration — the Obama administration — had taken action that was very adverse to Israel and the international community, and particularly in the U.N.,” Gohmert told lawmakers. “Normally we did not side with Israel’s enemies.”

It says that Noah went out and collected the animals, not that they came to him.

BTW, there are two conflicting stories on how Noah did it There's Genesis 6:19-22

And of every living thing, of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground according to its kind, two of every kind shall come in to you, to keep them alive. Also take with you every kind of food that is eaten, and store it up; and it shall serve as food for you and for them.’ Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.

The second is Genesis 7:2-3

Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and its mate; and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and its mate; and seven pairs of the birds of the air also, male and female, to keep their kind alive on the face of all the earth.

So which is it, seven or two?

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet (help mate) for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Genesis 2:18-22 (The man was created first, then the animals, then the woman from the man's rib.)

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them.... And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

10. According to Rachel Maddow, Bush used to consult with right wing groups about Israel and 2nd coming
Thu Nov 14, 2013, 08:37 PM
Nov 2013

There are a large number of christian types who support Israel based on their belief that the existence of the State of Israel is necessary for the second coming. As a Jew, I do not care why these people support Israel. Louie is one of these idiots. Rachel Maddow discussed these people in connection with W. Bush's speaking engagement with the Jews for Jesus idiots. I did not how seriously Bush took this crap http://global.christianpost.com/news/george-w-bush-administration-was-trying-to-cause-end-of-the-world-with-apocalyptic-christians-claims-msnbc-host-rachel-maddow-108556/

"It was more than just news, it was actually kind of scary that the George W. Bush administration, when we learned how policy toward that part of the world was being made inside the Bush White House," said Maddow.

"These groups wanted the Bush administration to make sure that the borders of Israel lined up exactly with what they thought the Bible said it needed to be in order to bring about the apocalypse," she explained.

In light of the history of the group with the Bush administration, Maddow said it was not surprising that he would be speaking at the group's fundraising event.

"It's an amazing thing," Maddow said. "I mean, everybody's religious beliefs are their own, and by definition in this country, nobody's religious beliefs are better than anyone else's."

Louie's latest is simply an extension of the belief of some right wingers that the only reason for the United States to support Israel is to further their goal of a second coming. Again, as a Jew I am aware of these motives and I really do not care so long as these people are going to help Israel.

do these fundamentalists ever reveal that not only do they need the state of Israel and the Temple rebuilt, but the end result will be the death and damnation to all Jews except for 144,000 who will be sealed to heaven?

I was raised around a lot of these nuts and spent a bunch of hours in church hearing these exact details. (Thank somebody I stopped in 1968 with graduation and never looked back).

I just wondered how Israel might feel if they really understood that the death of all but 144,000 Jews will be needed to bring about the new heavens and the new earth.

If this is offensive, please ignore it immediately. That's not why I ask.

Most Jews know what the 'score' is when regarding the beliefs of these types. The Jews of Israel are just as aware. The difference is the ones in Israel, particularly some in power, capitalize on these beliefs, because, of course, it is not a shared belief, but support is support. I politely listened but at the end of her sermon I simply said "you don't seem to understand that I was BORN one of the chosen" and her book was a fantasy as far as I was concerned. Dead silence - in the entire room. My friend came to the rescue by just stating everyone was entitled to their own beliefs but for the rest of the evening, most of them just stayed away from me while shooting me dirty looks. I'm not very religious but felt very insulted by this person - I couldn't help wanting to embarrass her.

And yes, Israel is very aware of the end times fantasy these evangelicals believe. The Israelis I know consider them useful idiots.

The reason for the support of these group is not a secret. You can go to Hagees or the Jews for Jesus websites and see where these groups are coming from. The State of Israel needs the support of the United States and most Israeli politicians do not care about the reasons for this support. Most Jews are aware of these views and again are willing to overlook or ignore these views so long as Israel receives its needed support.

As for the Jews for Jesus, we warn our teenagers about this group.

Jews are being expected, once again, to submit to those who killed them if didn't convert. The mind is tortured by having to say you believe what you do not believe to survive. But it's all for their own good, of course!

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature would "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church and State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

Theology and Democracy are two different things. Telling Gohmert to go live in Israel is not far fetched at all. The fact that Jews do not believe that Jesus is the Savior, presents a problem for Evangelicals in that they cannot have a theology in a democracy and they cannot have Jesus in Israel. So they choose to make decisions based on causing apocalyptic scourge, famine, war, and dominionism (King Cruz with the Church as the windfall profiteer) on both countries and their separate cultures to insist that God begin a Tribulation on their time table. Lets keep in mind that they are digging under the Dome on the Rock in Jerusalem to find the city of David. Satanic worship of the Skull and Bones took place under the city (look into worship of the head of John the Baptist over a goat's head, under the cities). Worship above the City and under the City or place of the Tree of Life, as discussed in Revelations, is paramount to the joining of old Celtic/Teutonic paganism and present interpretation of the Word as a part of the Western curse that believers in God, find detesting. (I am not a Jew.)

Edited to add the word Teutonic (Some Teutonic Tribes became the Greek people/writers.)

Is that Israel has nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them to any adversary in their region. A few years ago some high up in Israeli government actually admitted, not officially, that they exist.
The NNPT requires that the adherents to the treaty not expand the technology to other countries, which in Israels case is obvious. Israel has no interest in giving anybody else a weapon that could wipe it out with a small number of first strikes. So Israel is already there on that count.
The NNPT also requires that those nations make efforts to reduce and eliminate their stockpiles through negotiation.

...and the other thing Representative Goober doesn't take into consideration is that Israel signing the NNPT would put enormous pressure on their adversary Iran to stop their own nuclear program. Israel's nuclear capability is one of the main motivations for Iran seeking nuclear weapons. Don't think for a minute that Iran isn't intent on developing nuclear weapons as long as Israel has them.

.... and the other thing that Representative Goober doesn't understand is that Israelis don't believe whats written in the last chapter of the KJV Bible.

I will give Louie a shiny new nickel if he would read Genesis 12 out loud to me. Especially the part when Abram got to Egypt and he made his beautiful wife lie and say that she was his sister so that the Pharaoh would take her into his house and give Abram lots of cool stuff, you know, like “sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.”

And God rewarded Abram for his lies and brought plagues on the Egyptians for believing the lies. That’s the Fox News marketing plan.

So, Abram whored out his wife for livestock. And that’s where the Republicans got their economic plan.

Thanks for that Genesis 12 reminder, Louie.
