NORRISTOWN Montgomery County Republican Committee Chairman Robert Kerns resigned Thursday amid accusations he sexually assaulted a woman last month.

The Montgomery County Republican Committee (MCRC) today received the resignation of its chairman, Robert J. Kerns. MCRC will follow the procedures outlined in its bylaws on the selection of a new party chairman, the press release stated. All day-to-day activities of the committee will continue uninterrupted.
MCRC has no comment on media reports related to a possible criminal investigation of Mr. Kerns unrelated to his duties as chairman. All inquiries related to a possible investigation will be referred to his personal attorney and the proper authorities. MCRC will have no further comment.
