GOP infighting fierce even in Western strongholds

Source: Associated Press

MONTPELIER, Idaho (AP) — Republicans have made the Mountain West a stronghold, which is why brewing party brawls in Wyoming, Idaho and Utah are bedeviling loyalists who yearn for GOP unity.

Closely watched elections this month in Virginia and New Jersey did little to resolve the growing struggle between tea partyers and the Republican establishment. Now, some of the sharpest infighting is shifting to the rugged Big Sky region, where the tea party scored its first major victory, ousting a veteran Republican U.S. senator in a Utah party convention three years ago.

All across the country, Republicans are watching to see where big donors, especially from the business world, will put their money and energy.

In Idaho, the Club for Growth is backing Simpson's challenger, lawyer Bryan Smith. The group helped topple GOP incumbents last year, including longtime U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, whose seat eventually fell to a Democrat. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which sometimes spars with the Club for Growth, has yet to say which candidates it will support. Simpson, however, was a featured speaker at a chamber event this month in Washington, D.C.

While the MSM continues to spout of right wing talking points, it ignores the fact that the GOP is continuing to struggle between the extreme right faction and its nihilist wing, which pushed for the government shut down. Here is a new story discussing this ongoing struggle.

Democrats tend to make really dumb mistakes. however in recent times Republicans one up them. Hence Obama puts out a fix that lasts a year and made insurance companies peeved and caused confusion. Not to be out done. Republicans are like YEAH but wait we want it to last forever ..... ignoring the fact the insurance policy's are still canceled. Like okay Obama did something dumb let along the 1 yr thing but Republicans one upped him and did the same thing and it lasts until my nuts fall off. (not laughing) like well they dropped the ball on any leverage they might have had. X_X then of course not to be out done they wanna go even further to the right when the country shifted to Center Left

This was my first thought as well... While the M$M spent all week salivating over Democrats being "uneasy" or "revolting" (which is due to their believing the RW media bullshit), they carefully ignored the continuing story about the train wreck that is the GOP.

We had the Chair of the GOP in the 3rd most populous county in PA (behind the counties that are Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metro) just resign last week due to alleged sexual assault, and this has been almost completely missing from the local news and was absent from the national news. I guess they figure if they can keep up the hyperbolic Democrat and Obama bashing long enough, they can somehow hide their own malfeasance.

I think we are likely to make gains in California, Nevada, and Washington.
