California Congresswoman Seeks Offshore Fracking Moratorium

Source: Huffington Post

Lois Capps (D-Calif.) called for a moratorium on offshore fracking in federal waters on Tuesday, requesting a comprehensive study of its environmental and public health impacts. “I have been seriously concerned about offshore fracking since recent reports first brought it to light,” Capps said in a statement.

In a related letter to the Department of the Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency calling for the moratorium and study, Capps cited records detailing at least 15 incidents of fracking in federal waters off California over the last two decades. She wrote that the activities had been approved with "overly broad and outdated plans" that did not adequately account for the risks.

Fracking involves injecting a mix of water, sand and chemicals underground to stimulate the release of fossil fuels. Onshore fracking, which has generated serious environmental debate itself, has been used extensively in the extraction of oil and gas from major shale formations in more than a dozen states.

Less is known about the impact of offshore fracking. "This is a significant data gap, and we need to know what the impacts are before offshore fracking becomes widespread," Samantha Joye, a University of Georgia marine scientist...

God damn them to hell. And praise be if hell exists, for them.

What we're doing to the planet is totally irresponsible, totally parasitic and self-consuming. IMO if we can't stand up now, at this crazy point, then we'll die.

We've been beating cheeks for the better part of our existence
Constantly spreading disease of our humanity

Rotting her... Out

We've been fucking this whore
Mother earth for awhile
She's a filthy bitch anyway [x2]

Rotting her from the inside
Penetrating deeper and deeper every day
We are at our end
So let's continue to move forward and destroy ourselves

Rotting her... Out [x2]

Genocide of all humanity
Genocide of your reality [x2]

Genocide

The cheaper gas is a very nice break from higher food costs.

It does not matter of all the oil from Alaska is exported to Japan and China.
What matters is global supple versus global demand.

If it is cheaper to import Mexican oil to south-east USA versus using Alaska oil, then it is better for cheaper gasoline prices to do just that. If there is too much oil in any one of the major oil producing countries, it has the effect of depressing prices worldwide.

That is true of other commdities as well. Supply and demand world wide is what matters.
The commerce today is truly global.
