George Zimmerman drops public defender, asks for return of knife & phones

Source: Orlando Sentinel

George Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer acquitted of murder in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, will no longer be represented by a public defender in his new domestic violence case.

Zimmerman was represented by the 18th Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office during his first appearance on Tuesday, the day after his domestic violence arrest. He was granted $9,000 bail and bonded out that day.

However, Zimmerman has now elected to drop the Public Defender's Office and hire Jayne Weintraub, a south Florida private criminal defense attorney, to represent him, according to his former public defender, Jeff Dowdy.

Maybe they are subsidizing Zimmerman in this case.

Come to think of it, there WAS a gun involved so maybe the wife-beating wing of the NRA will chip in.

......It's unclear how Zimmerman will afford private representation. In indigence paperwork last week, Zimmerman claimed to have $144, and owe $2.5 million in debt. Weintraub didn't immediately return a call for comment.

Weintraub has appeared on the cable networks HLN and CNN as a legal commentator, including commentary on Zimmerman's high-profile murder case in the Feb. 26, 2012, killing of Trayvon in Sanford.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.

by now it has to be obvious even to gun humping cowards who the real aggressor was when that unarmed teenager was killed, and certainly he is on the path for it to happen again

Some of Jayne Weintraub involvement in the Trayvon Martin case where she weighs in on Rachel Jeantel's testimony.

Jayne Weintraub disdainfully asserted that “it's really not about this young woman's … credibility, because her credibility, it's a wash whatever her testimony is. Yes, she was a difficult witness. She was impossible.”

Here is the link.

With a lawyer this high-powered it is hard to see how Zimmerman will be convicted. And this means that he will get his guns back and all that that entails.
