Mike Huckabee radio show ending
Source: Politico
Mike Huckabees radio show is done, the former Arkansas governor announced on Wednesday.
The Mike Huckabee Show on radio, which was heard 3 hours a day on over 200 radio stations across the country since April of 2012 will conclude its run at the end of the final show on Thursday, December 12, Huckabee wrote on Facebook.
I have loved doing the Mike Huckabee Show, and its success of going from launch to over 200 stations in less than 2 years is significant, but the contract was at a decision point for both Cumulus Media and me, and we mutually agreed to conclude, he added.
The show, nationally syndicated by Cumulus Media Networks, debuted in April 2012 and aired weekdays from noon to 3 p.m. Huckabee, who is also a Fox News host, competed in the timeslot against the number one talker in the country, Rush Limbaugh.

I hope some of those stations replace Huckabee with Ed Schultz, whose show is also noon to 3 ET, and successfully convert some dittoheads to the other side of the aisle.
But as far as Cumulus stations that carry Huck's show live right now (KSFO in San Francisco, KLIF in Dallas) most likely they'll fill Huck's time slot with a local show or a delayed syndicated show like Glenn Beck (whose show is live 9am to noon). During the three months between moving Limbaugh to the local Clear Channel talk station (KKSF 910) and picking up Huckabee, KSFO 560 had former Rep. J.D. Hayworth as the interim 9am to noon (PT) host.
The Cumulus master schedule will be as of 1/1/14:
6am-10am (ET) Don Imus
10am-12pm (ET) ?
12pm-3pm (ET) ?
3pm-6pm (ET) Michael Savage
6pm-9pm (ET) Mark Levin
9pm-1am (ET) John Batchelor
1am-5am (ET) Red Eye Radio

(53,661 posts)Talk radio is almost all toxic, spouting reichwing bile all day, every day with reruns. No wonder the country is imploding.
Repetition replaces the Truth, Facts, Reason and basic Logic.

Henry Giroux on 'Zombie Politics'
Published on Nov 22, 2013
In his book, Zombie Politics and Culture in the Age of Casino Capitalism, author and scholar Henry Giroux connects the dots to prove his theory that our current system is informed by a "machinery of social and civil death" that chills "any vestige of a robust democracy."
This week on Moyers & Company, Giroux explains that such a machine turns "people who are basically so caught up with surviving that they become like the walking dead -- they lose their sense of agency, they lose their homes, they lose their jobs."
What's more, Giroux points out, the system that creates this vacuum has little to do with expanding the meaning and the substance of democracy itself. Under "casino capitalism," the goal is to get a quick return, taking advantage of a kind of logic in which the only thing that drives us is to put as much money as we can into a slot machine and hope we walk out with our wallets overflowing.
A cultural and social critic of tireless energy and vast interests, Giroux holds the Global TV Network Chair in the English and Cultural Studies Department at McMaster University and is a distinguished visiting professor at Reyerson University, both schools in Canada.
Iwillnevergiveup's comment:
This interview with Bill Moyers will be among the best 44 minutes of your life. Promise.
Well worth the time to listen to the video there. I listened and took notes. Discussion at the thread:

(843 posts)With Huckabee out, problems in the back ground for Hannity, Limbaugh, and Savage, this might be the signal that right wing talk radio is on the way out. Most of their listeners are advancing in age without a younger audience coming in to take up the slack.
That old koot Neil Boortz retired and there just isn't any big names rising in the business. When Limbaugh is gone, the whole market will collapse under its own weight.
