(San Francisco) City, PG&E investigate high-profile outage

City and Pacific Gas and Electric Company officials are still at a loss to explain what happened when two power outages briefly shutdown Candlestick Park during the nationally-televised Monday night football game.

The outage delayed the Niners game for tens of thousands sitting in the darkened stadium and millions more watching the marquee game from home.

PG&E officials initially said their equipment did not cause either of the two blackouts and that a city switch was partly to blame.

But after Mayor Ed Lee held a news conference saying there was not yet enough evidence to determine what caused the outage, PG&E officials said they had spoken too soon.

They attempted to place blame for the explosion in San Bruno on its victims.

PG&E is worthy of the anger many of us in the area of the San Bruno explosion have for it.
