Conservative Fans Unhappy With A+E Over 'Duck Dynasty' Controversy

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by pinto (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: ABC News

A conservative religious group that petitioned the A&E network to have Phil Roberston reinstated on "Duck Dynasty" is now asking the network to reflect their "biblical based values."

In a statement Chris Stone, founder of Faith Driven Consumer, which started the IStandWithPhil.com petition, questioned whether religious conservative fans were being "heard" by the network.

"Do they also now embrace the biblically based values and worldview held by the Robertson family and millions of Faith Driven Consumers?" wrote Stone.

A little at a time, a school board here, a cable TV program there... and America becomes a Right-Wing Christian Theocracy.

Hubby and I had to travel to the big city this past Friday evening. We had to pass a hub of hotel/restaurant establishments. We both noticed that the only parking lot that was NOT over flowing was cracker barrel. It was practically empty. The others ( I remember seeing Olive Garden, Lone Star Steakhouse, Applebees and a few others) had customers standing outside waiting to get in. I hope that's a sign of things to come for them!

There are about 23% which stand against the rest.

I believe these are those 23% and I wonder why the majority cave to these obsessive loons?

As seen against the 1%, these people aren't rich and have dictatorial leaders using the others ala Jim Jones and talk radio cons for personal fame, and gain.

Religion is their crudgel. They and their historical counterparts are why we have the seperations clause. If a tv network chooses to pander to them I will not watch it and will inform the advertisers of such.

We are the majority.

You may be giving them too much credit. They are sheep. The neo-cons exploited them for their own nefarious ends, and they are STILL swinging them around by the rings they have through their noses to bash the rest of us. The strength of sheep lies in their herd mentality; they stick together no matter what. Thinking people are first and foremost individuals. They agree on a few broad points, but their weakness is they fall apart over petty details. Take a look at some of these threads if you're dubious. If only 24% of us stood together, we'd beat them at their game.

They know they are done unless they cheat. Disenfranchisment, gerrymandering and Koch money.

On edit: to be clear, this was not directed at you, but at pain in the ass christians. Christians are making this country almost unbearable to live in, what with their incessant whining and all.

He hardly needs people standing up for his right to be a hateful bigot and
A.E. giving into the no nothing dumb asses is nothing short of shameful.
No shows were effected and in the end he and his phony clan will make more
money pretending to be back woods red necks.

People have every right to say what they want but we have every right to respond
with how we think. Much of cable TV is just dumb fuck TV trying to make America
think we are more gun toting, right wing, bible thumping, shit for brains A holes.

Freedom of religion also means freedom from other people's religion too and I wish
people would note any products that sponsors Duck Dynasty and boycott them.

Mr. Robertson, along with his Christofascist friends on the "religious" right have every right to as stupidly bigoted ideas as they like. What they don't have is a right to a television show. Let them build, and fund, all the television companies they want and can afford.

I think TBN is in their death throes. They been running mostly old movies and videos since he died. His psychedelic looking wife will help to drive it into the ground while feuding with their oldest son. Phil KKK Robinson will fade away as soon as more videos of racist, anti gay, pedophilia rants show up on YouTube and Live Leak.

The whole thing is just a publicity stunt, a "pre-emptive" controversy to draw attention to the DD brothers appearance last night on CMA.

I mean really, you pay attention to ol' Phil on the Boober, but ask yourself? If you saw ol' Phil hitchhiking on the side of the road, would you pick him up? He'd have to ride in the back with the dogs.
