Joseph Lieberman Joins Private Equity Firm
Source: New York Times
Over lunch in Manhattan several months ago, Brendan Carroll, a partner and co-founder of the private equity firm Victory Park Capital, had a proposition for his former boss, Joseph I. Lieberman, the former senator from Connecticut and onetime vice presidential candidate: Would Mr. Lieberman be interested in joining his firm?
Mr. Lieberman, who retired from the Senate last January after representing Connecticut in Washington for 24 years, was intrigued and eventually decided to join Victory Park as chairman of its executive board, the firm announced on Thursday.
While in the U.S. Senate, I fought for policies that would allow small businesses to thrive, Mr. Lieberman said in a statement. I look forward to a long-term partnership with Victory Park Capital that will position the firm for continued growth.
Mr. Liebermans appointment comes after his move to the law firm Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman in New York last summer.

(54,481 posts)I suppose he wanted someone who was perceived to be a moderate
and who had appeal with Jewish constituencies and consumers
But he got someone who wasn't very articulate, and in my view,
worst of all, insisted on observing strict religious doctrine: he
attended services on Saturday instead of campaigning. Would they
have won with 3 more Saturday's of Lieberman in Florida?
A stronger choice, in my view, would have been the more liberal
Senator Bob Graham of Florida. Yes they would have been the
tree-hugging ticket, but would that have lost votes? It would have
gained votes because the contrast with Bush-Cheney would have
been clearer.
I don't think VP Gore wanted to win very much.

(60,831 posts)I didn't get it then either as Gore had always had no reputation of the Bill/Monica problem himself. He had a very attractive family and his wife was his college (or hs) sweetheart.
Supposedly it was Lieberman's calling Clinton out on Monica earlier than other Democrats that gave him the nomination - and it was considered that he would win FL. (Though Graham would certainly have done that as well.)
Supposedly he rejected Edwards and Kerry for Lieberman. Kerry would have KILLED Cheney in the debate.

(6,960 posts)that was the stupidest thing Al Gore ever did. The way Timmy Russert and other media sellouts fawned over the Liebermann VEEP choice spoke volumes about what a POS he was. He was said to be a repudiation of Clinton since he had spoken out on the Senate floor about Clinton's reckless beravior in the Lewinsky matter. But Clinton could have won again and Gore erred mightily in not using him and in selecting that Loserman

It could have only lasted for so long, but Trader Joes Charles Shaw wine infamously known as "Two-Buck Chuck" is no longer two dollars after an impressive 11-year run.
Quite a bit has happened during those years and the move to $2.49 allows us to offer the same quality that has made the wine famous the world over,
This is Lieberman the quality of a $2.00 bottle of wine

Lieberman in Enronland
It has come to this: The investigation of Enron as a political scandal appears for now to depend on Senator Joseph Lieberman, an Enron Democrat who bagged Enron campaign contributions and who worked hard to block accounting reforms. Lieberman's committee agreed to issue subpoenas seeking information that could shed light on Enron contacts with the White House, but the question is, How hard is he willing to push?
Which helps explain why Smirko and Sneer were never investigated, let alone indicted, for their ties to Kenny Boy.
