Sen. John McCain Censured by Maricopa GOP ('overwhelming' vote of no confidence)

Source: KPHO CBS News Phoenix 5 Jan 12, 2014 11:26 AM

The Maricopa County Republican Party has voted overwhelmingly to censure Arizona Sen. John McCain. Members of the group feel the senator has failed to stand behind Republican Party's principals and crossed the aisle and voted with Democrats too many times. As leaders in the Republican Party, we are obligated to fully support our party, platform and its candidates. Only in times of great crisis or betrayal is it necessary to publicly censure our leaders. Today we are faced with both. For too long we have waited, hoping Sen. McCain would return to our party's values on his own. That has not happened. So with sadness and humility we rise and declare:

Whereas Sen. McCain has amassed a long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats, such as amnesty, funding for Obamacare, the debt ceiling, assaults on the constitution and second amendment, and has continued to support liberal nominees;

Whereas this record has been disastrous and harmful to Arizona and the United States; and,
Whereas Sen. McCain has campaigned as a conservative and made promises during his re-election campaigns, such as the needed and welcomed promise to secure our borders and finish the border fence, only to quickly flip-flop on those promises; and whereas McCain has abandoned our core values and has been eerily silent against liberals, yet publicly reprimands conservatives in his own party, therefore

Be it hereby resolved that the Maricopa County Republican leadership censures Sen. McCain for his continued disservice to our state and nation, and BE it further resolved that until he consistently champions our party's platform and values, we, the Republican leadership in Arizona will no longer support, campaign for or endorse John McCain as our U.S. senator.

He votes consistently right wing with occasional compromises with political reality
and sound bites that give hope to the old GOP, and he's devious, unpredictable,
irascible, cranky, yet gentlemanly and circumspect, in my opinion.

No wonder they're confused about him.

First, they eat their own "non-compliant" members, then when all power has been consolidated in the hands of the fanatical few, they turn their attention to the rest of us. The Maricopa County Republican Party is a microscopic sample of what the hardcore Republican Party members would bring to all of America, if they could just "purify" their ranks first.

An amicus brief is a vehicle by which representatives of special interest groups are able to express opinions on matters before the Court. It's never required by the Court, but is a voluntary option. Looking at the substance and timing of this brief, it's clear that the intent of exercising this option was to force a change of venue for the upcoming appellate court decision in this case.

Sean Brearcliffe's law firm, "Rusing, Lopez & Lizardi, PLLC", recently acquired J. William Brammer, Jr. as a partner. Brammer served as an appellate court judge in Division Two until his recent retirement. Due to his law firm's connection to Division Two's appellate court, Brearcliffe's involvement with this amicus brief created a conflict of interest and forced a move from Division Two (where the appellate court judges ruled in favor of prospective relief) to Division One. Brearcliffe received his appointment and is now a Superior Court judge.

In Division One, the case will be met with a whole new set of judges.

This could be history's most contrived conflict of interest and serves as a reminder that somebody is truly sweating a forensic exam of the RTA ballots. If the state's Attorney General was willing to do the dance, should we be surprised to find a new Superior Court judge directly involved with this disco? Let's face it. Election integrity and Pima County's Superior court judges just don't mix. Let's assume Maricopa's appellate court suddenly decides that Arizona's reputation as the "Methlab of Democracy" is unbecoming and they rule in favor of prospective relief in rigged elections just like Pima County's appellate courts. Do you think Pima County's Superior Court judges will abide by that decision? AUDIT AZ 's John Brakey would like to find out.

I'm reminded of Sir Joseph Porter from Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore:

I always voted at my party's call,
And I never thought of thinking for myself at all.
...
I thought so little, they rewarded me
By making me the Ruler of the Queen's Navee!

That's what the Maricopa County GOP want, someone incapable of independent thought. And also incapable of actlng like a rational adult.
