Questions about Christie's mouthpiece arise after he shows up in released GWB emails

Source: Bergen Record

He’s been the governor’s mouthpiece and confidant for more than a decade.

In his role as Christie’s top spokesman — in the governor’s office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office before that — Michael Drewniak, a former newspaper reporter, has been described as his boss’s alter ego, one of his closest advisers and his most ardent defender.

Like the governor, Drewniak has long been known among political insiders to set a brash tone for the office: rarely mincing words, often insulting or simply dismissing anyone who fails to adopt the administration’s message.

Until he emerged last week in documents linked to the developing controversy over lane closures at the George Washington Bridge, that attitude has remained a behind-the-scenes subnarrative, mostly drowned out by Christie’s explosive ascent to the national stage.

Hmmm, more email details coming out. And, many of those redactions, the way they appeared on the pages, looked like email addresses. I wonder who else's names are behind many of those black stripes. I guess we'll now begin to find out!

As they say, "stay tuned".

I still automatically think of the bridge when I see those initials. I guess cuz I was in my 40s before I heard of GW Bush.

... of "The Wolf" from "Pulp Fiction".

Rachel's coverage the other night perfectly framed the reaction Christie's thugs had when they lost control of the spin.

because he is a "smart" person, and knew that he could not lie about this because too many eyes were on him

Another insight failure by the media I believe

He was already doing it in college. Sooner or later, he will implode. I don't know whether there's a smoking gun about the GWB controversy, but he may still face death by a thousand cuts. It seems that the bullying behavior is endemic within his administration.

But then again, I don't understand the adulation of the bully to begin with. I don't understand the appeal of the in-yer-face. I just don't. I find it TREMENDOUSLY off-putting. I don't like that way of doing business and I don't like people who treat others that way and I don't like that schtick and I don't think it makes those with that behavior seem macho or bold or strong or gutsy or any of those positive attributes. It reads to me as just plain asshole-ish and just plain damn mean. Bullies usually wind up reaping what they sow, but shit, it sure takes a long time for that karma to come around! Sometimes it seems like forever, or nearly never. But if you look at the trail of punched-in faces and black eyes and knife wounds in the back, well - let's just say I'm glad I don't have a shadow like that trailing behind me! If you get enough of one, just considering the law of averages, some of it is inevitably gonna bite you back.
