Joe the Plumber wins in Ohio

Source: LATimes

Joe the Plumber has won again. You remember Joe. The Ohio man hurtled toward fame with that fateful 2008 encounter when, bald head shining and T-shirt slightly rumpled, he questioned Obama on small business taxes. Like Mitt Romney, “Joe” -- Samuel Wurzelbacher -- didn’t set off any landslides Tuesday.

He won the GOP nomination in Ohio’s 9th Congressional District by a suck-in-your-gut slim margin: 51% to 48% for his opponent, auctioneer and real estate agent Steve Kraus.

But now Wurzelbacher has a much larger obstacle in his path: Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur.

Lots more at link.

Outside of immediate friends and family, has anyone heard of Steve Kraus?

JTP lives in Toledo and had the Toledo market and national media keeping his name in front of people for four years. Kraus is from a sparsely-populated section of the 9th District. And all JTP could manage was a 3-point win?

Samuel being his real name, JTP is like a stage name.
Will anyone recognize him as Sam?

He's merely been nominated, just like Sharron Angle, Ken Buck and Christine O'Donnell: He will need a real plumber by the time Marcy Kaptur is done with him.

I propose the following compromise:

Since this person's name is not Joe, and since he is not a plumber, I propose that the use of the appellation Joe The Plumber cease and desist immediately.

However, since the individual in question was apparently employed as a plumber's helper at some point in his career, it would be both fair and accurate to henceforth refer to him as Joe The Plunger.

He is plant. Plain and simple. Someone who was planted by the Ohio GOP to look like an ordinary working class american. In reality he had been a diehard republican for years and was just following orders. Anyone who lives in his district (me) knows that he had been active in politics years before the 2008 election.

The good news....the 9th district is blue collar. And Joe has no chance up against Marcy Kaptur! Proud to call Marcy my congresswoman

for over 50 years and never heard his name before 2008. I agree that he has zero chance of winning against Marcy, but do you think he was out in his yard on the chance that Obama on his way from Toledo Express, would just happen to make a diversion off Route 2 into Holland and show up in his neighborhood? Really?!

Sam the drain sucker, that is all he was doing when he did approached the Obama and did his little thing. Or perhaps he wasn't even doing that.
