Breaking: 100 tons of toxic water leaked at Fukushima plant

Source: RT

Around 100 tons of highly radioactive water leaked from one of the tanks at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, the plant's operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) said on Thursday.

The water reportedly spilled beyond the barrier that is set up to block it from flowing out of tanks.

A process to stop the radioactive leak is underway. The spill is said to contain 230 million becquerels per liter of strontium and other beta ray-emitting radioactive substances.

TEPCO believes the leakage has not reached the adjacent sea, as no drain was found.

I'm willing to bet that the entire situation is much, much worse than anything they've admitted to thus far (or ever...)

What is everyone sitting on their ass as Japan is pollutes the water supply we need to survive? Not to mention all the creatures in the Pacific Ocean we consume. I have been talking about this for years, and still, no country has assisted in capping this thing. Without the water and the sun, we all die. It seems to me we are destroying this planet at an alarming rate, and no one gives a shit.

i think the concern would be where exactly is the water going since it has not reached the ocean.

Someday, people are really going to regret that whole thing, because it's going to get there before it decays away.

Thu Feb 20, 2014, 02:11 PM
Feb 2014

100 x 2000 lbs ( 1 ton) = 200,000 lbs

water = "A pint a pound the world around"

200,000 lbs divided by 8 (8 pints to a gallon ) = 25,000 gallons...

held. If my math is correct, each ton would be almost 240 gallons. So I get 24,000 gals with my rough rounding. But, believe me I am the furthest thing from a math major, so maybe someone else can help.
