Its hard times in Venezuela these days. The economy is in shambles, crime is spiraling, and the opposition is leading increasingly strident protests on the streets. To make matters worse, President Nicolás Maduro cant even deal with the crisis from the comforts of the presidential palace.
Constitutionally, of course, Maduro has been able live in La Casona, a luxurious villa in the heart of the capital, since he was sworn in last year. The only problem: Almost a year after Maduros predecessor, Hugo Chávez, passed away, his three grown childrenMaria Gabriela, Rosa Virginia and Hugo Jr.are still living in the villa. Apparently, they have no intention of leaving.
The two daughters have allegedly converted La Casona into a social club for friends of the family. According to recent media reports, neighbors complain of deafening parties. Fast-food restaurants and catering agencies refuse to deliver to the mansion, allegedly, because the Chávez kids have stopped paying their bills. Even concert organizers are complaining; Chavezs daughters allegedly force them to hand over dozens of free tickets so they can share them with their friends. (Both the countrys Information Ministry and the Chávez family were unavailable for comment.)

(47,245 posts)If these brats were the children of a Bush, or the children of a right-wing dictator you'd be calling for their heads.
But since they are the children of oh-so-dreamy Hugo, they get a pass.

(50,254 posts)What really matters is the efforts by the U.S. to organize violent opposition to the democratically-elected Venezuelan government and replace it with a "pro-business"
I.e., anti-social justice and equality) regime.
The Venezuelan opposition have no positive ideas and no program other than full restoration of the privileges of the wealthy...privileges that will be enforced by soaking the streets with blood, as Carlos Andres Perez did when he murdered thousands of trade unionists just for marching against austerity.

(164,122 posts)How many times should a genuine news story say "alledgedly?"
This story was posted months ago, in part, in a previous attempt to smear either the late Hugo Chavez, or his daughters, or the current elected President, who was said to have offered to let them stay their for a brief time before moving everything they owned out of the residence after their father's death to their next home.
Here's this "Late Breaking News" from last December:

(9,688 posts)I just hope that the pro-coup contingent, which is amazingly large at DU, saves some of their spunk for the after-coup parties.
Well, maybe I should rethink that since the after-coup parties will be .001% only affairs. Not that I give a damn about how the pro-coup contingent might feel betrayed. Adults who're still taken in by the Koch/oil/MSM/etc. apparatus don't rank high on my radar, and I doubt that very many of them would even notice the betrayal.

(47,245 posts)Maduro, and the Chavez kids are human.
They aren't the first, and they sure as heck won't be the last who want to hold on to the goodies they have, and in Maduro's case, power.
This near-deification of first Hugo Chavez and now Maduro is what Maduro counts on.
And apparently this "Thou must not speak ill of our heroes" is also in effect for Yassir Arafat and the current corrupt Palestinian government.
The right-wing has this in effect for their image of Ronald Reagan. (Not the real one.)

(164,122 posts)as a space filler from the corporate media when they didn't have anything like a right-wing riot in Venezuela to claim is a human crisis, you might want to start reading the REAL news sometime, and find out what the rest of the world of human beings is doing.
Why not take a dare and look at the home page of the "news" outlet from which the OP was taken, why not?
