Republican chairman predicts 'tsunami' victory in November

The November midterms will be a tsunami for the Republicans, says the chairman of the Republican National Committee.
"I think that we're in for a tsunami-type election in 2014, RNC chairman Reince Priebus told reporters Tuesday at a breakfast hosted by The Christian Science Monitor. My belief is that it's going to be a very big win, especially at the US Senate level, and I think we may even add some seats in the congressional races.
The next step, Mr. Priebus says, will be to take the positives and benefits that weve been able to provide in 2014 and build on that to have success in 2016, the next presidential election.
RECOMMENDED: Eight open US Senate seats in 2014
Since the Republican defeat in 2012, the RNC has invested in infrastructure in the states and in its use of data for voter outreach. Last weeks Republican victory in a special House election in Florida and the recent Republican victory in the San Diego mayors race provide evidence that the investment is bearing fruit, Priebus says.
But issues are also a big factor, starting with Obamacare and they will go a long way toward boosting Republican support among demographic groups that have been Democratic strongholds, the RNC chair says.

The same strategy Rove, Fox and Romney had in 2012.

WOULDN'T accept it.
They NEVER admitted Clinton won fair and square and they've done the same with Obama.
They actually BELIEVE the White House is THEIRS It belongs to THEM.
They have convinced themselves that the ONLY way the Democrats can win against their sure fire formula is if Dems are cheating.
Of course they consider allowing minorities and WOMEN to vote part of what they call "cheating".
This will continue as long as a majority of white males still have visions of Lazyboy, the pipe and the dog fetching the slippers.

If you listen to any RW radio or Fox (I do as a matter of just keeping an eye/ear on them) them have drilled this home.

What will 2016 be for the GOP? A Holocaust of Winning? A Cultural Revolution of Cool? Killing Fields of Electoral Bliss?

(14,275 posts)I am seriously thinking about staying home in 2014 and and maybe 2016. I am so stunned by the lies they have told about the ACA and who and what it covers that I think I have lost faith in the party I have supported the democratic party for 50+ years. I have voted democrat in every election since I was 18 but...go ahead and flame me until you have been in a position to see the actual damage the ACA con has done.

(60,320 posts)If you think you are disillusioned now, prepare to have a king-size disillusionment with Boehner & McConnell.
You hate the ACA, so abstain and let McConnell get majorities to repeal it. You can celebrate in November.
We have names for people like you.

(60,320 posts)Not voting is half as bad as voting for the other side.
But no, you don't care to address the GOtV aspect, and by your silence you endorse Raven not voting and thereby advancing Boehner and McConnell.

Hint to you: WE are the people who tolerate and even promote a bit of diversity in our opinions. THOSE GUYS are the ones who don't.
There is nothing progressive about making sinister insinuations about the "purity" of a fellow prog who dares have an opinion different from yours. The word for that is "reactionary."

Please tell us what is the actual damage the ACA has done?

(60,320 posts)The Republican base is almost always motivated in off-year elections. They may have a diminishing demographic but they have better turnout.

(8,175 posts)They may be delusional, but I don't think so. They know how to motivate their base. Dems on the other hand...
Opting out never solved anything. Letting one bill change your support for progressive policy is really sad.

(406 posts)Most of us have jobs to go to and families to look after. We're not sitting around forwarding chain emails full of more fiction than Star Wars and being hypnotized by Stephanie Miller everyday. Republicans - that's all they do; believe every chain email and inject daily Rush Smackball into their veins around lunch time. THAT'S why they're at the polls every two years.

(843 posts)I give you Christine O'Donnell and Todd Akin to demonstrate how the Republicans can take a sure bet race for office and lose it straight out.
When the misguided, but very enthusiastic, Tea Party smells victory, they will crush a potential winning Republican candidate and proceed to field a person who can only get a minority of the vote. Moderation is the key to winning office, not ideological purity.
