The man who killed three people and wounded 16 others before committing suicide at Fort Hood reportedly purchased his killing weapon at the same gun store where the first Fort Hood shooter bought his.
Unnamed law enforcement sources told both CNN and NBC News that Ivan Lopez recently bought a 45-caliber Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol from Guns Galore and used it in Wednesday's deadly shooting.
Talking Points Memo points out that, in 2009, Fort Hood killer Nidal Malik Hasan purchased his firearm at the same store. He used the tactical pistol to kill 13 people.
CNN reports that Lopez passed a background check and authorities don't believe the store did anything illegal by selling the gun.

No matter the situation, gun culture is central in the national plague that is gun violence.

(16,974 posts)the required background checks, what is the issue?
They followed the law.
Would a new UBC have helped?

Yer shittin' me.
I'm not anti gun, I grew up around them, but can't retailers of deadly ordinance take it a little more seriously? Is there a place called "Carnival of Hand Cannons" or "Poppa Capp's Gun Shack"?
I do remember a little gun store north of me in the middle of nowhere called "Mom's Dream", though. I always wished I got a pic of that hand painted sign on my way to party at Geneva-On-The-Lake Ohio. That was way before this current CCW fad where any idiot willing to sign papers opening his life to the govt can carry a pistol.
It's ironic that these are the same people who want the government out of their lives.
