(3,335 posts)Certainly not so they can see the error of their ways. My guess is that they want some stupid followers to do their dirty work for them; build a following, perhaps to get some stoop to do something crazy in the meantime. Then they call it off.
It they had the courage of your convictions, why are they waiting? Because they have no courage.

Truth is subjective, facts are objective.
And marriage has dozens of definitions. There are several definitions of marriage in the Bible. The native americans even had a form of marriage where it was purely about sharing work in a household and unconnected to gender.
Pagan = non-christian = evil.
The forefathers would immediately feel at home with mass-shootings, the lack of slavery and aristocrats running the country behind the scenes.

I visited the web site of this "Family Foundation" and it's exactly what I expected it to be. The fact that it claims to be a non-profit, non-partisan group -- while asking for even more contributions -- is a damn joke. This is a rabid anti-Obama, anti-choice, anti-gay organization that does nothing but political lobbying. Here's an article on its president, Victoria Cobb: http://www.styleweekly.com/richmond/cobbs-web/Content?oid=1365121

(16,296 posts)You beat me to it:
"pushing the envelope on decency and morality have all combined to turn this great land into a country that our forefathers could not even begin to recognize."
I wonder if our forefathers would recognize the envelope we pushed on women's rights, freeing slaves, granting non-land owners rights to vote, etc. etc.
I can't wrap my mind around the circular reasoning of that last statement. What we need to do on DU is find out where they are starving themselves to death and send them pizza and hamburgers, maybe even have a cook-out. I can just visualize the grills cooking with the aroma of hot dogs and steak wafting over to the starving group.

Or how about starving children? 1 in 4 are underfed in the US. Yes, the US, not Ghana or the Congo. I don't see them starving with them until our government, who really wouldn't have to spend THAT much to do so, feeds them. Instead we feed Wal-mart coffers.
God forbid two people, whose lives will likely never intersect theirs or cause any actual harm to anyone, get the same legal benefits that marriage has to offer in this country.

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?.
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets
Matthew 7
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
