Citizens United fails to win media status

DENVER - A request by conservative political group Citizens United to be treated as a media organization under Colorado election law was denied on Thursday.

The Colorado Secretary of State's office ruled that an upcoming documentary featuring state politicians "is an electioneering communication" and that it does not fall under any of the exemptions to state laws requiring political groups to disclose financial donors when running ads that mention candidates within 60 days of an election.

The decision could set the stage for courtroom battle, something that wouldn't be new for Citizens United.

The group is the namesake of the landmark 2010 US Supreme Court decision that opened the door to unlimited corporate campaign spending.

Good. They are propaganda machines and should be treated as such.

And all media outlets should ignore Citizen United and its upcoming propaganda & campaign ads disguised as a documentary film this fall.
