just read another thread, on Perry not qualifying for the VA 'Puke primary.

made me wonder if this country should have a "Shadow Presidency", along the lines of the Brit "Shadow Cabinets", or the various Govts. in Exile; or, perhaps, the High School Conferences' "Model UN General Assembly".

all these whackjobs can have their own supporters, run their own campaigns, elect their own congress & president, and pretend to govern a virtual US & nuke the rest of the planet -- either in cyberspace, or the Nevada desert, where they would have negligible effect on the real World. Kind of a low expectations version of "World of Warcraft"; call it something on the lines of "Dumbones & Deranged".

look at his *actual* record, not what he has said lately, would tell us that. He is really more of a moderate Democrat (conservadem) on most policy issues if we look at what he's said in the not too distant past. With that said, I don't think he would garner that many votes as a third party candidate because of the very negative ads that would be fielded by the Republican nominee.

But, we can always hope it happens.

EDIT TO ADD: It is kind of confusing right now... the Statement of Purpose for the forum infers that a link is needed by saying... "News stories must have been published within the last 12 hours. Use the published title of the story as the title of the discussion thread."

Back in DU2, it was much more clear. Hopefully they clear up the language soon.

He's not a Republican or a Democrat. He's a Trumplicat. He's out for himself. In that sense, Independent suits him quite nicely.

He went Republican here because he'd have run against a Democrat. Chances are, he'd have at least remained Independent if the president were a Republican. Opportunistic douche, clearly.

72. Does that mean you vote in both primaries?
Sat Dec 24, 2011, 01:02 PM
Dec 2011

In Ohio we're given the ballot that suits our registration. Independents can vote for either, but only one.

In Ohio many hard line conservatives brag about their independent status, but it was because Limbaugh ordered them to change during "Operation Chaos" so they could vote to put Hillary on the ballot instead of Obama. Only a minority did, and they're too lazy to change back.

Perhaps your state has open primaries where you can vote for both parties. In my opinion, that skews the will of the people because if I was voting in the Republican primary, I'd pick the wackiest nutjob possible and cancel the vote of an earnest GOP member. That would make Santorum look quite popular when he isn't. I wouldn't want to miss out on the Democratic primary just to throw a wrench in the GOP.

Do you pick either a dem or repub ballot when you vote in a primary, or do you get both? What state is this?
