Foley murder video 'may have been staged'

The video of James Foley’s execution may have been staged, with the actual murder taking place off-camera, it has emerged.

Forensic analysis of the footage of the journalist’s death has suggested that the British jihadist in the film may have been the frontman rather than the killer.

The clip, which apparently depicts Mr Foley’s brutal beheading, has been widely seen as a propaganda coup for Islamic State miltant group.
But a study of the four-minute 40-second clip, carried out by an international forensic science company which has worked for police forces across Britain, suggested camera trickery and slick post-production techniques appear to have been used.

A forensic analyst told The Times that no blood can be seen, even though the knife is drawn across the neck area at least six times.

4. Something wrong. I saw that video yesterday where those

Mexican drug lords beheaded those four women then cut all their limbs off and stacked them in a big pile. There was blood every where. Disgusting (I won't watch one of those again), but it was the real thing. And it looked it. Berg and the recent one looked phony from the getgo.

Someone without conscious thought or someone so threatened they are acting against conscious thought. I watched those women sitting there and was watching their faces. It was like they were in shock--no visible display of emotion: sadness, horror, sickness...nothing. Occasionally one of the druggies would poke them in the back of the head with a rifle butt or a stick. The heads moved in response... Then a switch to the horror, which I will not recount for you. I near threw my keyboard through my monitor.

2. Go West Young Man just emailed me the same thing. He went

through a ton of the videos. Was it propaganda or was it staged using a Britain to bring the FBI into the killing? Is something happening here beyond the killing or ostensible killing of a reporter? Is it just to extract money and cause fear? Who are the people behind these bastards. This is not Jihad Joe planning all this stuff.

know how much you saw the videos. I look at a few but not as many as him. The dude being sliced in the video doesn't even look like Foley. With a year of captivity the man would have look emaciated. The dude in videos looked well built. And the voice in the video doesn't even sound like Foley, Go West said. But as far as who staged the video, I have a pretty good idea and why it was done. You may too at this point. The entire IS thing may not be what it appears and has become a useful tool.

People have posted videos demonstrating how easy it is to make a prop like that, pointing out some clues as to why the final part of the video seems also staged.

I watched the thing several times and don't know what to think.

Extremely uncomfortable and macabre to speculate about this. Given that everything, or some part of it may well be real.

13. Daniel Pearl was definitely dead before his decapitation

They cut away from Foley just as a carotid might have been breached. Had that happened, the whole area would have been sprayed with roughly a gallon of blood under high pressure. I have seen carotid arteries let go, and even with the event expected and the person loaded up with padding, there was blood spray everywhere.

There wasn't enough blood on the corpse and head, either. My guess is that they strangled or shot him right after his confession, then pulled out an axe. He still died hard.

Lopping off heads is an incredibly messy business. I doubt it could have been accomplished with Mama's kitchen knife as shown in the video.

20. Having seen other videos made by IS, it does take awhile to cut off a head with a small knife.

The decapitated appeared to be already dead before being beheaded as there was little to no blood.

The emcee didn't want to cut Foley's head off and the executioner didn't want to make a speech, so they staged the execution and killed him later. But then....why not have an emcee and an executioner onscreen? One to do the talking and the other to do the cutting? There's no rule against that. I've seen other beheading videos with a small crowd onscreen.

Hmm. So why did they fake the video?

Maybe Foley told his captors that he could not recite all that stuff five minutes before being executed. The speech had to be on a different day for Foley to remember it all and keep it straight.
