Richardson: Obama right to wait on ISIS strategy

Source: The Hill

Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) said on Sunday that President Obama is right to gather more intelligence and speak with allies in the Middle East in preparing a strateagy to fight the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Richardson said on ABC's "This Week" that he agreed with Obama’s decision not to divulge a strategy on ISIS last week. The president said Thursday “we don't have a strategy yet” on ISIS.

“I think the president probably should have said ‘we’re developing a policy, a new policy,’ ” Richardson said. "I applaud him too … these are very serious foreign policy issues,” Richardson, who ran for president in 2008, continued.

. . .

“My point is, let’s do it right,” he said.

A President carefully considering the best response. Imagine that.

1. Saying "We don't have a strategy" IS a strategy

It would be a stupid move to tell the world ahead of time what he's planning.

3. Yes, just like in the business world

one must never appear to not have it all figured out.

That said it was refreshingly honest.

10. So do I. The "clinton camp" is already pissed off at him for his endorsement

of President Obama in 2008.

5. Cool Hand Luke, he is quiet but sure, just like he handled bin Laden, did he announce this action?

He is not a Shock and Awe guy, not a war president. If McCain had his way there would have been arms to the rebels, now it is seen as a bad idea.

6. It is so "weak" to deliberate on the facts and options

one should be "decisive" and act immediately on one's gut feelings.

8. I know! If only we had elected McCain or Romney

There would be none of this weak "planning"

9. disagree

Well when an army of fundamentalist marauders are using US military equipment including Humvees, tanks, anti-tank weapons, artillery, and small arms to perpetrate massacres and even religious genocide in a country the US recently invaded and destroyed the social fabric, and governing institutions in, it might be a time to be decisive. One might even say the US has a moral obligation.

11. What Obama and Kerry are doing quietly with Ukraine, Iran and Syria is

exactly what a war-weary nation needs.....cool, comprehensive brainpower. Goals that have a more peaceable, long-lasting effect on the entire region.

Why let corporate media and the RW moronicons eager to get in front of a camera result in these morons getting to call the shots?
