Romney: I would have done a better job than Obama
Source: AP-EXCITE
By TOM RAUM
WASHINGTON (AP) Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney says there is no question in his mind that he would have been more effective in the White House than President Barack Obama. But he reiterates he has no plans to run again.
My time has come and gone, Romney told Fox News Sunday.
Romney cited continuing high U.S. unemployment and growing troubles abroad, and that some of those who voted for Obama might now have some buyer's remorse.

(270 posts)No, really he would have done a great job as president, but we can't prove that statement because he didn't win and won't run again. I wonder how FOX thinks this is relevant to anything. "I would've , but couldn't so I can't and I won't". Brilliant man.......BAIN!!!!

(4,188 posts)largely subjective and situational. I'm sure his fellow multi-millionaires would have done even "better" while the rest of us continue to be "battered." While I've been disappointed that President Obama has been blocked at every turn, I'd still rather have him in the White House on his worst day rather than Rmoney on his best, 'cuz the gods only know how much damage the vast majority of the population would suffer because of it.

(322 posts)there's no question in his mind - never has been, never will be. And he would have done a better job of creating even more income inequality and jumping into the Middle East clusterfuck! One need look no further than the sorry curriculum in business schools to understand why our country is going down the drain!

Did Jimmy Carter carp about how bad Reagan was? Did Mondale? Did Dukakis whine for years afterward? Gore could have had a lot to say - did he? How about Kerry?
Like others have said: Rmoney lost. He has to learn to accept reality (for the first time in his life) and shut up.

(45,984 posts)Of course, Obama has done well enough in that department, but I'm convinced Romney could have done better.
I am critical of President Obama, but under the circumstances, I do not regret voting for him a second time even though I had major problems with his record for the first four years and continue to have them. Mr. Romney did or said nothing to indicate he would have made those things of which I have been most critical of the president any better and, in fact, I believe they would have become much worse under an administration directed by an infamous vulture capitalist.
I dread the idea that the next election will present us the choice between another Wall Street stooge and a Koch whore. I don't think America will survive either.

(141,926 posts)A new economic report, published by Forbes.com on September 6, 2014, clearly shows that President Obama is the best economic president in modern times. Its not an opinion, its a fact, based on all of typical the economic indicators, including jobs, investments, growth and expansion, even the rate of inflation. In all of these areas President Obamas record outperforms that of every other modern president, including conservative idol, Ronald Reagan.
Under President Obamas leadership, the unemployment rate has now decreased to 6.1 percent, the lowest its been since 2007, when the economy began gushing jobs under the failed leadership of then president George W. Bush.

(625 posts)Mitch Romney is delusional. If he had been elected the US would be entering a depression even greater that the one in the 1930's. And of course no government money would be available as tax cuts would have decimated the federal budget. In addition, his foreign policy decision to attack Iran would have resulted in the sinking of the first US Navy's aircraft carrier since WW II.

Look at that pathetic group on the front page of DU today and tell me he doesn't believe that Romney doesn't think he is
a) better than any of them
b) more acceptable to American voters and
c) has a good shot against whoever the Dems run.
I still think he believes he has been chosen to be the first Mormon president by God.
