Phil Robertson Thinks AIDS Is God’s ‘Penalty’ for ‘Immoral’ Gay Conduct
Source: Mediaite
The uproar last December over controversial comments he made to GQ magazine has evidently not deterred Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson from speaking his mind about his moral opposition to homosexuality. On Tuesday, Robertson brought his media tour to promote his new book, unPHILtered: The Way I See It, to Tony Perkins Christian-themed radio show, where he echoed decades-old theories about HIV/AIDS to condemn immoral conduct like gay sex.
Just last week, Robertson told Good Morning America that he is as much of a homophobe as Jesus was, and now, answering a question from Perkins about his refusal to conform to political correctness from cultural bullies, he delivered a brand new rant on the physiological downside of immorality.
Is this coincidental that viewing all of the immoral conduct that America is now participating in
Do you think its a coincidence, Robertson asked, that all of these debilitating literally that can cause death diseases follow that kind of conduct?
God says, One woman, one man, and everyone says, Oh, thats old hat, thats that old Bible stuff, Robertson continued. But Im thinking, well lets see now. A clean guy a disease-free guy and a disease-free woman they marry and they keep their sex between the two of them. Theyre not going to get chlamydia, and gonorrhea, and syphilis, and AIDS. Its safe.

How does he explain Ryan White, Arthur Ashe, Mary Fisher or the millions of heterosexual AIDS deaths in Africa?
Time to finally pull the plug on Mullah Robertson and his reality TV Taliban, A&E.

People are listening to this guy while corporations and the 1% are turning our fragile democracy into a corporatocracy. Why does his comments even make the news?

(4,788 posts)is just shtick for the Robertson clan. By ditching the buttoned-down, clean cut, preppy look a few years ago, the family made millions. As soon as they aren't making money, ten to one the ZZ Top look gets dropped too.

(10,340 posts)These religious freaks act as if all gay men are promiscuous, jumping from one partner to another. Sure, there is some of that, but there is also plenty of that in the straight world.
It's not being gay that's going to get you an STD. It's having unsafe sex and multiple partners, which is exactly the same as for straight people.

(8,303 posts)It's true. Sleeping around very much will likely get you something these days. Probably it's always been true.
Personally, I don't think that God imposes the diseases as a punishment - I think the rules were evolved by societies (or given by God. if that's your belief) to protect people from the inevitable natural consequences.
What he's saying is pretty much straight from the Bible, and he says he's preaching the Gospel. So why is this significant? Why does he even get publicity?

(520 posts)If AIDS is God's punishment for gay men then God seems not have concocted a corresponding punishment for lesbians, so I would suppose lesbianism is OK with God. And the fact that women do get AIDS - from hetero sex (in some cases) with their husbands and nobody else, I suppose there is also a Divine penalty for faithful heterosexuality.
Of course, if AIDS is God's punishment for homoswexuality, then Legionnaire's Disease must be God's punishment for joining the American Legion, or maybe for having served in the US Armed Forces which is the prerequisite for joining the American Legion.

Not to mention that a heterosexual virgin couple can both be infected with HPV. But I suppose Robertson figures that getting cancer is better than getting young people vaccinated against an STI. Because we all know that vaccinations turn young women into brazen hussies.
