US Choppers Land in Polish Fields in Bad Weather

WARSAW, Poland — Poland's military says a dozen U.S. Army helicopters made an unplanned landing in farmers' fields because of poor visibility in stormy weather.

Polish army spokesman Lt. Col. Artur Golawski says the U.S. Black Hawks and Chinooks were returning from the Saber Junction exercise in Lithuania to their temporary base in Miroslawiec in Poland on Tuesday afternoon.

Golawski said Wednesday they took a "very responsible, professional" decision to land given the poor visibility. No one was injured.

Residents in the villages of Gruta and Nowa Wies took pictures with the troops.
