49ers, Pac-12 Networks suspend announcer Robinson (for domestic violence comments)

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) The San Francisco 49ers suspended veteran broadcaster Ted Robinson on Wednesday night for the next two games following comments this week on a San Francisco radio station about the Ray Rice domestic violence case that were deemed insensitive.
The Pac-12 Networks also announced late Wednesday it had suspended Robinson for the next two weeks and that he would undergo sensitivity training. The 57-year-old Robinson spoke while co-hosting on KNBR radio Monday and said Rice's now-wife, Janay, was partly to blame for not speaking up.
"That, to me, is the saddest part of it," he said.
The issue of domestic violence is particularly sensitive for the 49ers, who recently had one of their players arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. Defensive tackle Ray McDonald has continued to practice and play since his Aug. 31 arrest while celebrating his 30th birthday with friends and teammates at his home. CEO Jed York and coach Jim Harbaugh have said they will let "due process" play out before making a decision about McDonald, while reiterating they have zero tolerance for domestic violence.

(22,634 posts)I have heard of court ordered anger management training but have yet to hear of anyone actually taking these so called classes.
Does anyone have an actual experience with this?
I want to see lesson plans!
I want pre and post test data!
And if the first go round doesn't show improvement. . .
Make the misogynistic ass take it again and again and again, until that post test shows an attitude change.
Please!
A two day suspension is equal to a snap on the ass with a towel. He gets points for macho and nothing changes.
F N Joke.
Like letting me walk across his back side with heels on. He gets off.
He isn't being punished. He's getting a holiday and a feather in his cap.
Notoriety is a drug.

(17,862 posts)Especially in the Hardy case. At a minimum he has a six game suspension riding on his second trial. That is about $6M give or take plus endorsements whether he is a convicted abuser or a acquitted abuser. The maximum punishment he will receive will be 60 days and 18 months probation. Hardy is probably willing to spend up to $3M to ensure that such a result will not happen. How much will North Carolina be willing to spend to ensure that he is convicted? Even if they take domestic abuse seriously who is going to pay for this prosecution? This situation will play out in every court case involving these athletes.
Throw in the fact that domestic abuse cases are more difficult than most since in a large number of them, the victim refuses to cooperate.
Going forward, unless it is on video, I don't see the six game suspension being employed short of serious injury or death. The bar is a conviction. Getting over that bar is going to be a challenge.

(487 posts)The average guy out there who does not beat his wife or kids does not know the psychological situations of the wife. I think a lot of people would ask why a women stays or why a women does not speak up. It's family terrorism to say the least and disgusting so an outsider would ask why.
