Ray Rice Told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell In June That He Hit His Fiancee
Source: The Raw Story
Former NFL running back Ray Rice told Commissioner Roger Goodell in June that he knocked out his then-fiancee in a New Jersey casino elevator, ESPNs Outside The Lines reported on Thursday.
Rice, who was suspended indefinitely and fired from the Baltimore Ravens after footage of him hitting Janay Palmer in February was published earlier this week, allegedly told Goodell what he did in a June 16 meeting. ESPN cited four sources, each of whom wished to remain anonymous.
That contradicts Goodells statement to CBS News aired on Tuesday that the footage was inconsistent with what Rice had told him regarding the incident. But one of Outside The Lines sources said Rice made it clear that he had hit Palmer, who he later married, and apologized for his actions.
He told the truth, another source was quoted as saying. This is a public lynching of Ray.

(6,241 posts)as long as no one finds out, and it doesn't make us look bad, or hurt the NFL's profits, there shouldn't be a problem. Now get her some flowers and a steak for her eye, and we'll see you at practice on Monday."

(7,234 posts)He could have left her with very serious injuries or even killed her but it seems no one, not the NFL, not the prosecutors, not the "fans" and not the corp media seem to get this.
Knocking people unconscious is very serious. This wasn't a shove, he landed a full on punch to her head and knocked her out cold and its a god damn shame there are people are out on this very site making up excuses for it.
And what about the kids who look up to these massive brain damaged football players? What message is the NFL, the fans and law enforcement sending to the kids?

(1,074 posts)He told Goodell, he came clean, told the truth, there are witnesses to that meeting, easy enough to confirm.
In the meantime the NFL has authorized a so-called investigation of themselves by themselves with ex-director Mueller of the FBI, wiTh 2 club owners, from the Steelers, both the biggest supporters of Goodell. Then the Ravens owner tonight is throwing the NFL woman on the voice mail acknowledging receipt of the elevator video from law enforcement back in April accusing the unnamed woman from failing her duties not sending the video to Goodell.
We're now beyond Rice who took responsibility, the NFL woman-haters club is in full force attacking anyone who aims to prove the failure of the league to address the abhorrent behavior they've justified and ignored for decades within the league and are now covering up how much they've known and excused for the big money with the handling and full knowledge of the Rice case being the tipping point.
Goodell gotta go.

(4,098 posts)into the video before anyone seems to comfort her, or really ask if she's ok. Ray Rice appears to be just interested in dragging her out of the elevator, he never gets down to her level to see how she is. The whole episode is disgusting.

(29,322 posts)Is everyone was already aware of the facts and wasn't punished in the way he is now then suddenly a video which is bigger news than the actual assault comes out and everyone acts surprised.
Not that I care what happens to Rice, just that there is a point being made.

(22,000 posts)with the statements and actions that he has taken during this incident. If he is not telling the truth he needs to be called on it regardless of what happens to Rice. Fans should demand Goodell to come clean or catch a cab home.
