Convicted Ohio School Shooter T.J. Lane Escapes From Prison

Source: BuzzFeed

Convicted school shooter T.J. Lane escaped Thursday from the Allen County Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio.

Lima Police Sgt. Andy Green told BuzzFeed News Thursday Lane escaped with 45-year-old Clifford Opperud and one other man. The third man was captured shortly after the escape. Green did not have the third man’s name.

Green did not know how the men escaped from the prison. Lima police received word of the escapes about 8 p.m. CDT, though Green didn’t know exactly when the men actually left the prison.

The Lima Police Department, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and the Ohio Highway Patrol were all out searching for the escapees. Green said both Lima and Allen County had mobilized their SWAT teams, and multiple police dogs were aiding in the search.

The prison itself has several layers of road and fence perimeter with armed guards on patrol in trucks 24/7. So, this escape may of been through a door/exit...also with several layers of gates and check points...I hope we learn the details of the escape...fascinating.

Oh, the dogs will find them as the country is mostly vast fields and open nothingness. Unless, an escape vehicle is in the mix....

Emotionally, when you see something like this, and try to imagine what these families have been through, and will continue to go through, then yes, I get frustrated when a smug little murdering asshole has zero remorse and further injures these families.

I most definitely want him caught and stuck in solitary confinement so he cannot even hurt other prisoners. If that makes him flip out and start bashing his head against a wall, well, life sucks when you kill kids.

That's why it is more important to use our heads than our emotions in decision making.

In any case, they need to recapture and lock up that piece of sociopathic dung in isolation for the rest of his life, and bury him in a landfill when time and nature take its course.

Prison rights groups have ended that with various lawsuits. So he will always be able to hurt other prisoners and of course guards no matter where he is at.

I favor the death penalty in certain cases. Many do not. But this is what you get when you do not favor it.

And Wikipedia is wrong, as usual

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solitary_confinement#Solitary_confinement_in_the_United_States

In the US Federal Prison system, solitary confinement is known as the Special Housing Unit (SHU), pronounced like "shoe". California's prison system also uses the abbreviation SHU, but it stands for Security Housing Units. In other states, it is known as the Special Management Unit (SMU).

Current estimates of the number of inmates held in solitary confinement are difficult to determine, though generally the minimum held at any given time has been determined to be 20,000, with estimates as high as 80,000.

The inmate held in solitary confinement for the longest time in U.S. federal prison is Thomas Silverstein, in solitary since 1983. He now resides in ADX Florence federal penitentiary in Colorado.

The inmate held in solitary confinement for the longest time in the United States is Albert Woodfox, the last of the Angola Three, in solitary in Louisiana State Penitentiary since 1972. A May 2013 report on California's Pelican Bay State Prison in Mother Jones magazine also cites one inmate there who "recently marked his 40th year in solitary".

It is not. Yes, you can find a few exceptions but generally it has been very limited by lawsuits. Those 20,000 to 80,000 you cite are not in long term solitary. The inmate in this thread was not in solitary. If you want to fantasize then go head. Reality will not stop you.

or the 'hide' right. You've got your moral victory... yet you're still wrong in trying to make yourself better at someones expense when you haven't walked in their shoes. When my sister was murdered, if that clown hadn't committed suicide, I would have pulled the switch myself. Does that make me some kind of monster to be hidden and shunned? You are entertaining, just in the fact of your passing sentence without all the information being scrutinized. But you are always that way, so no surprise. Proceed.

The story wasn't clear. They said they didn't know how he escaped, then local news said he and his pals jumped the fence.

He's a murderer, the other guy is a murderer. It seems they should have been in a facility with more than a fence, IMO.

Thanks for the info.

Police shot and killed John Crawford, a 22 yyear old black male while shopping. Mr. Crawford was holding a toy gun he picked up off the store shelf while talking on his cell phone. A man by the named Ron Richie called 911 reporting an active shooter. Mr Crawford was shot immediately upon the arrival of local police.

He can't have many friends so I fear he'll be desperate for a way out of town. Hopefully not this way. Didn't think of it unti now, but he'd be a satanic superstar if he could return to Chardon and pick up where he left off. That's a scary thought.

I'm sure Harry Truman would have some choice words about this psychopath. This isn't some kid who made a few mistakes, he opened fire in a cafeteria and then taunted the victim's families. He doesn't deserve anything but scorn.

On second thought, maybe he deserves 23 hour lockdown after this little stunt.
