Kerry Says Operation to Destroy ISIS 'Can Take a Long Time'
Source: ABC NEWS
ABC News(JIDDAH, Saudi Arabia) Secretary of State John Kerry sat down for a one-on-one with ABC News Alex Marquardt in Saudi Arabia Thursday as he works with allies in the fight against extremist militants.
During the interview, Kerry declined to call the offensive against ISIS a war.
Were engaged in a counter-terrorism operation of a significant order and counter-terrorism operations can take a long time. They go on. I think war is the wrong reference term with respect to that, he said.
He also warned that the fight against ISIS may have to be finished by the next administration.

(60,010 posts)"counter-terrorism operations are and always will be a continuing state, requiring continuous money to fight it.
If we call it a war, people will expect a beginning and an end.
If we call it counter-terrorism operations, we can justify a permanent Patriot Act, a permanent Pentagon budget, and permanent jobs for weapons makers and contractors..
The names and groups of who we are facing in counter-terrorism operations is subject to change,
but counter-terrorism operations WILL go on...and on..and on."
Or, as n2doc's recent toon put it:

(4,616 posts)George Herbet Walker Bush played the terrorist card after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A new enemy was needed to sustain the flow of funds into the oligarchic MIC. Bush called this new enemy, "narco-terrorists". And so it goes (and goes and goes and goes).

What a fucking shock.
Especially since the variables "X" & "Y" are constantly being replaced
with slightly different values just to keep the gullible believing in the
needless & bloody process of turning war into profit.

His purposely losing the election allowed Bush to continue 4 more years of war.
Now, he is making sure the war will continue into the next administration.
