ISIS Issues Video Challenge to Obama

Source: New York Times

By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDTSEPT. 17, 2014

WASHINGTON — In one of the Islamic State’s first responses to President Obama’s declaration that he would “degrade and ultimately destroy” it, the group released a late Tuesday in which it appeared to say that its militants would kill American ground forces should President Obama deploy them.

The clip is only 52 seconds long and is billed as a preview for a longer video. With slow-motion replay, quick edits and high-quality video images, it looks like a Hollywood studio trailer.

It begins with American tanks and troops under attack by fire and American soldiers carrying a wounded comrade into an armored vehicle.

The images flick by, including a shot of the “Mission Accomplished” banner that served as a backdrop on the day President George W. Bush landed on an aircraft carrier six weeks after the United States invaded Iraq in 2003. That is followed by shots of Mr. Obama and the White House at night.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]...and maybe even a conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn at some point in the future that ISIS has been backed and encouraged, as well as aided in its propaganda efforts, by some very high-level people within the MIC ... those who dearly want us back in a full-scale war in the ME, just to keep those profits rolling in.

Call me cynical and if you want to, but I really wouldn't be at all surprised.

4. No not cynical. I too question the hyper-rapid rise to power of this so called 'isis/isil/is'.

Something just isn't right with all of this, imo.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Nice to know I'm not the only one thinking these thoughts.

You're not paranoid if someone's really out to get you (or dupe you into another war that bleeds the populace and benefits only the rich)... right?

10. This is reasonable, actually, but it's not direct.

It's more of a MIC nurtured and facilitated thing. It's self-perpetuating.

People talking about US Army bases around the world are possibly overlooking just how many the US has at home and how much it is entrenched into our economy.

offers some basis for what you are saying. Fear motivates, I guess.
ISIS is merely baiting us to send troops. Hopefully, we will not rise to it.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]ISIS is baiting us to war, just like our own warmongers are sowing fear to urge the same. And who's backing ISIS?

Hopefully, we will not rise to the bait, but I'm not terribly optimistic. We already know how gullible the populace can be, and we already know who pays and who benefits.

What's next? A televised debate between Obama and a TV screen full of "ISIL?" Sponsored by Halliburton with a studio audience and moderator?

Funny, but I don't recall reading about how "the press" breathlessly "reported" transcripts of Axis Annie's and Tokyo Rose's broadcasts.

Bin Laden's '04 October Surprise Pre-Election Special was quite interesting IMO.

The "full transcript" on the CNN website was edited but Al Jazeera English had the missing paragraphs.

I still get man-crush chills remembering the banner on the aircraft carrier, "Missing Accomplished," to celebrate his successful A.W.O.L. from Texas A.N.G.

causing turmoil in countries all over the world. JFK talked about disbanding the CIA and look where it got him.
Congress is going to vote, most likely today, to have the military train moderate Syrian rebels and arm them. The M$M makes no mention that the CIA for the past couple of months has already trained and armed 3,000 rebels. So who does the CIA report to?
Ambassador Stevens got killed at a CIA villa in Benghazi. There has yet been an explanation what Stevens was doing there. Some say funneling arms and money through Turkey to Syrian rebels.
Doesn't anyone else feel that the end game in this new war is all about removing Assad from power with defeating ISIS as secondary?

Some "entity" thinks the American People are very gullible and easily manipulated. Sounds like some sophisticated "behavior modeling" at work. I wonder where ISIL/ISIS/IS accesses that kind of expertise.

Software is inexpensive, and not very difficult to use. Cameras are cheap and easy to come by, too.

I'm also reminded, though, of Donald Trump's spurious debate challenges. Were I president, I would dismiss this video as a pitiful attempt at negotiation, which it sort of is.
