Deb Fischer (R-NE), other senators win EPA extension of comment period on carbon rule

WASHINGTON — The EPA agreed Tuesday to an extension of the public comment period on a proposed rule to regulate carbon pollution from existing power plants.

Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., had led a group of 53 senators in asking for the extension.

“Nebraska’s public power utilities are very grateful for the extra time to consider and comment on EPA’s proposal,” Fischer said Tuesday.

“Nebraskans would be disproportionately impacted by the rule, and it is extremely important that these effects are well analyzed and that the concerns of stakeholders can be communicated and considered.”
