After 9 Months, Federal Probe of GWB Closure Finds No Link to Christie, Federal Sources Say

Source: NBC News

The U.S. Justice Department investigation into New Jersey Gov.Chris Christie’s role in “Bridgegate” has thus far uncovered no information he either knew in advance or directed the closure of traffic lanes on the George Washington Bridge, federal officials tell NBC 4 New York.
The September 2013 closures -- where several entrance lanes to the George Washington Bridge in Ft. Lee were shut down causing a traffic nightmare for commuters -- has been the subject of several federal and state investigations.

Federal officials caution that the investigation begun nine months ago is ongoing and that no final determination has been made, but say that after nine months authorities have uncovered no information Christie either knew in advance or ordered the closure of traffic lanes .
According to one former federal prosecutor, who had no involvement in any of the probes into the bridge closure, investigations of this kind will often turn up a solid connection early in the inquiry.

He knew. They don't have all the information, or information got destroyed before the investigation began. If he didn't know then why the huge effort to keep documents from those conducting the investigation? Makes no sense that all those people won't talk and documents are being fought over if he really didn't know.

When the final report is issued, Christie may still face complications from the scandal, said Lee Miringoff, Director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion.

As the report continues, it looks like he wasn't in control of his administration, at the very least.

And, of course, we have to remember the NJ investigations continue. There was an e-mail that was deleted. This was one Regina E's (right had staff member) e-mail and Christie's, too. Very suspicious that two e-mails were deleted off their respective accounts. I wonder what happened with that?

This is as no-win situation for him, because if the problem wasn't that he's corrupt, it's that he's INCOMPETENT!

He used to be a U.S. attorney himself -- no doubt he has spies in the enemy camp.

Federal investigations normally take at least a year. There are plenty of things on Christie's plate (a metaphor, not a weight joke), other than Bridge(t)-Gate, which you can learn more about here. And don't you think it's odd that that a local NBC station got the "exclusive" from federal officials who dare not speak their names? I think it's a backhanded attempt to intimidate NBC's sister station MSNBC (read: Rachel Maddow).

Christie Says He’s ‘Growing Tired’ of Bridge Investigation

Governor Chris Christie said he’s “growing tired” of the New Jersey legislature’s investigation into politically motivated traffic tie-ups at the George Washington Bridge a year ago.

Speaking today in Trenton, the second-term Republican said Assemblyman John Wisniewski, co-chairman of the legislative panel investigating the scandal, is “just attempting to keep his name in the papers.”

Wisniewski and Democrats who control the legislature and the panel probing the scandal are “addicted to MSNBC” and are leaking information for publicity, the governor said. Christie decried the leaks, especially records of interviews his administration conducted with lawyers that were disseminated this month when he was traveling in Mexico.

“The fact is that they’ve been digging around for eight months now and have found absolutely nothing,” Christie, 52, told reporters in his State House office. “Wrap up your work. Do your job.”

The state Dems are leaking to MSNBC , and the Feds, who we haven't heard a peep out of until today, are leaking to NBC New York? Sounds like Christie's trying to do an end run (a metaphor, not a weight joke.)

Christie Cremes, maybe the DoJ doesn't want to help them. If Christie Cremes doesn't come out of this too badly, maybe he can give a good challenge to Jeb (the smarter than George son). With the two fighting it out, god I hope in a cage, Herman Cain-Stan-Stan might slip thru. And of course don't count out Gov Perry who might have to run from prison.

It really should be obvious why the Powers That Be have decided to sponsor H. Clinton-Sachs. Dog bless Amerika.

40. NBC just clarified on Fri. evening news
Fri Sep 19, 2014, 06:49 PM
Sep 2014

NBC just issued a clarification on their Christie story from yesterday. This took place about 6:46 on Friday, Sept. 19 on the evening news with Brian (?) can't remember last name.

The anchor repeated that the federal investigation has found no evidence that Christie was aware of the bridge shutdown. He then said that the federal investigation continues and so does the state's.

I think it's interesting that they felt the need to say this. Obviously, somewhere there was pressure on them to do so. Christie, for one, was acting like the state investigation was dragging it out and he told them to "do their job." Get it over with. Possibly, this was the impetus.

The posters upthread who were suspicious of the planting of this story may very well be on to something.
