Ravens Knew Details of Ray Rice Attack almost Immediately

Source: Huffington Post

Just hours after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell admitted, again, that the league failed in its handling of the Ray Rice domestic violence case, a damning report from ESPN's "Outside The Lines" claimed the Baltimore Ravens were guilty of "purposeful misdirection" in their own handling of the matter.

In a comprehensive account of the seven-month Rice scandal built upon information from more than 20 unnamed sources, ESPN's Don Van Natta Jr. and Kevin Van Valkenburg reported that Baltimore Ravens director of security Darren Sanders received a complete account of Rice punching his then-fiancee in the elevator of a casino in Atlantic City, N.J., within hours of the incident taking place in February. According to the "OTL" report, Sanders was fully informed over the telephone of what transpired in the elevator by an Atlantic City police officer who was viewing the surveillance footage. Sanders reportedly then shared the information with team executives.

When contacted by the Baltimore Sun, Sanders declined to comment on the story. In a statement, the Ravens disputed the accuracy of the "OTL" report.

This is really what the NFL is about, and the commissioner too. Cover up, lie, evade, then lie again. Always protect the team and the League..I hope that millions turn this off, let the kids participate in some other sport. What did the NFL do for years about the head injuries that the players got?.....

Cover UP..LIE, EVADE...THEN....LIE AGAIN, AND AGAIN, TILL the league and teams can focus on something else..like.....
THE PLAYOFFS OR THE............SUPERBOWL...

These people don't give a damn about anything but their own money, and keeping the league looking like it cares about something great.
The league cares only about itself, its image, and probably most important..........the money..Wait..you tell me if the commissioner gets paid well..eh?...

Not surprised...just saddened that the Ravens knew almost right away...oh..

I got a great idea...throw the Ravens out of the league for ...covering up..
How does that sound?... But that is not going to happen..never..

cause then, all the other cover ups might be exposed.

And spending the resultant taxes on programs preventing violence against women. On the same note, they should pay the cheerleaders a salary of, say, $45,000 per anum, giving them a decent standard of living, too.

Misogyny reigns in sports, and maybe that kind of profit sharing would help the situation.

I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. With this Raven's cover-up being exposed, I believe that we will be hearing about others. Some could be much worse, but the story will be the same ...coverup, lie, evade the truth anyway possible, delay, then...lie again..
I think this is the beginning of something unusual in big money sports..truth...because when the ( big top decider is making, ...is that correct, over 40 million a year????,).... then the truth is the last thing that comes out. This could be something like we haven't seen in the NFL....could be interesting to watch.....

That concept seems as archaic and misogynistic as beauty pageants.

Do we really need to be zooming on in these women's body parts coming in and out of every commercial.

Thankfully several teams have already gotten rid of them.

I suppose what I'm pointing out is that, if the cheerleaders are considered part of the game and necessary for the entertainment value, pay them a living wage and see how important they really are. If they're important enough to have, they're important enough to pay.

Or at least transformed into something different from what they are now in many cases.

Sexism pervades the NFL in many ways, some more subtle than others.

According the the latest figures the NFL brought in about $6 billion which was equally divided among the teams. My guess is the cut the teams get is taxed (with the exception of the Green Bay Packers who are non-profit).

I agree each team needs to pay each and every individual who works for the team a living wage whether they be cheerleaders or the people who work at the stadiums. That isn't an NFL issue, but a team issue as they are individual businesses. There is no real way to force them to do that unless it's either via a state law or a boycott and the latter won't work.

I also agree with violence prevention and I think sensitivity training for LGBT should be added as well since that has been a reoccuring problem. Again, I don't think realistically you can force the NFL to do this unless it is mandated by law or a boycott.

Guess how distraught I am about the dust-up(s) and folderal about all this NFL ruckus. Ya gather up the BIGGEST, BADDEST, Most aggresive folks you can find that are adroit at running like hell and knocking the daylights out of opponents. Then tell me how ALL these guys are gonna inherently and flawlessly demonstrate good sportsmanship and pinnacle-of-society humanity, day in - day out with unerring regularity. The whole fetid "industry" being dissolved would only be a good thing for our future generations. ALL these goons are grossly overpaid - not just Goodell. Kids growing up in cars, and this guy's due $44Mil a year. I've got a 6ft 4in hulking grandson who fancies himself pro material (like millions of other disillusioned kids in this country). IF he doesn't get his brain scrambled, he will be lucky to get a job at some fast food outlet - dreaming about the multi-million contract he was sure he'd get to sign.

Losing one's lunch over the animal behavior of "jocks" is as dumb as the outrage over a couple guys being beheaded by ISIS. Dead is dead. If it's such a dastardly act to take someone's life - no matter the method used - this country should be in a frantic meltdown over the THOUSANDS of domestic killings that take place across this whole country - daily! Sabre, Bowie, cleaver, stiletto, switchblade, Uzi, AK, Derringer, bomb, poison, pillow - the results are ALL the same. Mortal remains disposal. 4500 Americans wasted in Iraq - hey - when's the next "big game" on?
