Kurdish fighters battling ISIS desperately want more guns and armor, but they already have a secret weapon: The fanatics they’re fighting fear that if they get killed in combat by a woman, they won’t go to heaven. “They have many female battalions, as you know who fought very bravely,” Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), who chairs the House International Relations Committee, told The Post of the Kurds.

ISIS militants are afraid they won’t go to heaven if they are killed by a woman. Royce, who met this week with the foreign minister of Kurdistan, cited recent reports of young female Kurdish troops “laughing” at ISIS forces they had turned back. “These ISIL soldiers apparently believed that if they were killed in battle, they went to paradise as long as they were killed by a man,” Royce explained, using another acronym for the terror group.

“And these female soldiers were communicating their satisfaction with the fact that they had taken the fight to ISIL and had stopped the advance, turned back the advance — slayed a number of these fighters, who would then run away,” he added with a chuckle. Women have long fought in Kurdish peshmerga forces, who have been battling ISIS in northern Iraq and in Kurdish areas of Syria.

Who enforce "the rules" amongst the female population. Those women aren't fighters, and that shit wouldn't phase the Kurds, anyway. Kurds are quite egalitarian within their own cultural boundaries and limitations--it's a rather odd tension, there.

The ISIS enforcers act a lot like the "dress code" police on the streets of Iran..."Daughter, your manteau is too tight, your scarf should cover your hair, blah, blah, blah..." They aren't coming over the hill shooting at anyone. The Kurdish fighters, though--they'll mow ya down.

The sexism/misogyny that ISIS feels is REAL. It's not just ISIS, either--it's a commonly stupid attitude held by a number of ignorant nitwits in the region.

I could offer a few suggestions to really get those guys' goats, but this is DU and some folks looking for a fight might take my remarks the wrong way. Suffice it to say that they are especially terrified of women who are doing what comes naturally on a monthly basis, and that reality could be exploited if they had a mind to so do.

Unfortunately, the WSJ article cannot be read except by subscribers, which I am not, so I can't investigate further. However, I still wouldn't believe any Murdoch-tainted source without plenty of independent corroboration.

They just said that ISIS had a few female enforcers who enforced the rules amongst women. They use women to terrorize women, in essence. They aren't afraid of their OWN women enforcers, but why should they be? Their own cadres aren't looking to kill them (yet, anyway).

There's nothing in that piece that indicates that ISIS isn't fearful of women who are actually in battle against them.

I think the Kurds are onto something, and that's based on country knowledge/experience.

42. Okay, I'm nearing 80, just had a hip replacement, and am an anti-gun nut.

But I'd gladly arm myself (learn how to shoot one of those weapons first, of course), don the uniform and charge into battle with an army of women ready to face the enemy head-on. Would do me a world of good to see those ISIS(L) "soldiers" turn tail and run at the sight of me and my compatriots. As Barbara Fritchie said to the redcoats during our Revolution, "Shoot if you must this old grey head..." I wouldn't even use my cane to hold me upright! These female troops make me proud to be a woman, and I can't think of a more noble way to exit this earth, should it come to that. Maybe I'll bring it up at my next mostly-female book club meeting when we're discussing The Guns of August.
