Hannah Graham: Police Issue Arrest Warrant (missing UVA Sophmore)

Police searching for a missing British-born student in Virginia have issued an arrest warrant for a man they believe is the last person to see her. Hannah Graham, 18, disappeared in the early saturday morning of 13 September in the university town of Charlottesville. Jesse Matthew, 32, was seen walking with the student on CCTV footage the night she disappeared.

Police issued a warrant for Mr Matthew on charges of reckless driving after he visited the Charlottesville Police Department station accompanied by several family members. Mr Matthew, who is a nursing assistant, initially asked for a lawyer, but then drove away at high speed without speaking to police. Police say they also have evidence that a man matching Mr Matthew's description entered a bar with Hannah and purchased alcohol during the night.

"I believe Jesse Matthew was the last person she was seen with before she vanished off the face of the earth," Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said at a news conference. The second-year University of Virginia student, who appeared to be drunk, was then caught on CCTV cameras in several different locations throughout the town.

In the last few sightings, Hannah is seen walking through the main shopping street in Charlottesville. In two separate pieces of footage, Mr Matthew is seen walking beside Hannah. At 01:20 Hannah sent a text message to a friend saying she was lost. There were no subsequent sightings of the teenager.

4. Wash Post had an article on this case over the weekend.

Apparently Graham had just moved into a new apartment a few weeks prior and it was posited that she may have had issues trying to find her way back home given her inebriated state.

Doesn't sound like the POI is claiming he played good Samaritan and drove her home (with her disappearing afterwards) otherwise I would think the police would have released that information.

Its a cruel world out there and a drunk young woman alone is an easy target. Women HAVE to watch out for each other. Its possible she went to the restroom and just walked out the door, but we havent heard anything about what group she was with if any.
I'm in NO WAY blaming her or any friends for whatever may have happened to her, I'm just saying the same thing I've told female friends and daughters of friends. Dont trust ANY man when you're drinking.

apparently taking more stuff out of his apartment. He spoke with police Friday, asked for an attorney, and was out in an hour (they couldn't charge him at that point).

The interesting part is comparing it to the Morgan Harrington case from a few years ago in that same part of the state -

...of second murder in Nelson County, Virginia. There was no evidence to connect him to the Harrington murder, though.

The suspect is also a technician at the UVA hospital, not some random person. He also played football at Liberty University. Sheesh, as if the NFL's domestic violence scandal isn't bad enough now we've got an ex football player who kidnapped and possibly killed somebody?

First, Graham was neither initially out on her own nor drinking alone so this clown has his facts wrong to begin with.

Arguably, if anyone's common sense filter failed it was the people she was out with initially who let her leave the bar on her own. However, from what I've read she had recently moved into an apartment not that far from the general area where her group was hanging out and it seems that nobody thought she'd have problems making it home.

Even when these idiots insist they aren't blaming the victim they still find ways to do exactly that thing.
