(31,818 posts)Not at DU - but for example - WPIX has this story up to.
The Wait and See . . . based on what proof is he making this claim? I know last week there were drills in NYC on the subways for training.

(17,469 posts)Out "intelligence service" beat confessions out of some people we captured so we could provide these "threats" to American officials and thus justify continual war in Iraq/Syria. In 3-5 years, the reliability of this information will be on par with Curveball's NBC weapons that justified illegal invasion of Iraq.

(6,045 posts)The chance a real plot was uncovered...I think we need to wait & see. Your knee jerk reaction is no better than the war hawks!
This is a messy complicated world & just because something happened in the past does not mean it is the case ever single time you don't like what you hear. There really are groups out there who for whatever reason want to see you, your family & as many Westerners dead as possible. Like I said, we should not jump to conclusions either way we should be smart patient & wait to see what the facts are before making wild ass claims with nothing at all to back them up with.

(1,807 posts)So often we on DU are quick to dismiss these warnings as propaganda. And many times, they are -- spread by the military industrial complex or by paranoid politicians or media.
But there ARE people out there who are intent on doing serious harm to Americans. And one day, one of these warnings will be the real deal.

Amazing really.

(17,469 posts)OUR government are the terrorists.
Why do these people want us dead? Because we keep invading their countries illegally and committing war crimes.
It amazes me that people keep believing a government that has provably lied to use for decades.

(17,469 posts)Obama, then to them he is a terrorist. If Bush were the one launching these drone attacks, everybody here would be with me denouncing him. But, because it is someone they voted for, suddenly the rules don't apply.
Terrorism is in the eye of the beholder. One man's "terrorist" is another man's "freedom fighter". We call them "The Founding Fathers", the English government called them "traitors".
I really do not understand why this concept is hard to grasp.

(17,469 posts)The entire Iraq war was justified by lies (as was the Vietnam War, see "Gulf of Tonkin Incident).
My views are hardly "wild ass claims with nothing at all to back them up with".
HISTORY backs me up.
Fear is what these people peddle to justify illegal war.

They still want us dead.
So what do you suggest the next move is?

(9,766 posts)BTW, how long is it going to take those legs to heal, if ever?
And what do we do in the meantime?
jamzrockz
(1,333 posts)but I prefer my leg not getting broken. This explains why I see our pouring gasoline into the fire called middle east can be a problem to the people living there who are trying to put said fire out.

(17,469 posts)And yes, he withdrew troops, but given that the entire country was destabilized by Bush's illegal war, there was NEVER going to be any good outcome from invading in the first place. We should have got out and stayed out. As horrible as the beheadings are, they are small potatoes next to the hundreds of thousands of deaths we have inflicted on the Iraqi people. And now we are getting ready to kill a few hundred thousand more people and make ourselves loathed even more in the Middle East.

(5,842 posts)The system does what is was designed to pretty efficiently
I live in DC and was amazed that it wasn't targeted post 9/11. You hit a few lines during peak rush hour not only do you have a pretty significant body count but you would likely shut down the system for days given the two track design.
amandabeech
(9,893 posts)to wreck both sets of tracks for each of the lines that meet at those stops.
Moreover, the system crawls if it has to single track, and that would mean the buses would be bulging and even more cars would be trying to find a parking spot in the District.
You are right that a rush hour attack would mean a very significant death toll. It would be very grisly, and it would be a long time before all the bodies could be recovered.
It's hard to even think about it.
