Three retired firefighters who helped in the recovery at Ground Zero all died the same day this week of 9/11-related illnesses, the FDNY said.

Firefighter Daniel Heg­lund, Lt. Howard Bischoff and firefighter Robert Leaver all died Monday.

Each worked at the World Trade Center site after the attacks, the department said.

1. Well, Ghouliani needed to get the gold out no matter how many people died doing it.

The fact is that the Mayor’s switch to a scoop-and-dump coincided with the removal of tens of millions of dollars of gold, silver and other assets of the Bank of Nova Scotia that were buried beneath what was once the towers. Once the money was out, Giuliani sided with the developers that opposed a lengthy recovery effort, and ordered the scoop-and-dump operation so they could proceed with redevelopment.

3. And how many thousands have already died

Due to Asbestos exposure. Larry Silverstein should be held accountable for not cleaning the WTC like he was supposed too. It's his toxic waste. He stole all that money from the insurance companies for his timely upping his insurance 3 months before the attack. Let an average Joe try that on their spouse that died just after their insurance policy was raised.

4. According to this, by 2009, 817 WTC workers had already died of various causes

40,000 had enrolled for medical monitoring and 20,000 under treatment. We will see a lot more people dying in the future of maladies directly attributable to the collapse and I think they should all be added to the list of victims.

7. More than 850 first responders are being treated for WTC-related cancer.

As the article notes,

"More than 850 firefighters and ambulance workers are battling WTC-related cancer, according to the firefighters union."

This is so sad. And to make matters worse, the article also notes the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act needs to be reauthorized. Good luck getting the GOP to do that!
