Even if one takes seriously the idea that people are opposing some real act of imperialism by the U.S. and NATO and the EU, opposing that remains something different from cheering for the success of Russian imperialism.

A doubt the man you refer to is, in any case, a half-wit, by any generally recognized definition of the term.

And Albania, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro and Turkey are all in the queue in front of Ukraine:

Ukraine won't be able to join the EU by 2020. Wednesday was the 1st day in months that no-one died in the civil war. A country has to be stable before it joins.

I made no reference to their population for whom I wish the best for whatever they may want.

I referred to being led by a halfwit. I can only suggest you start from scratch here regarding membership applications : http://ec.europa.eu/enlargement/policy/conditions-membership/index_en.htm

See here re. Turkey's for example and time range http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accession_of_Turkey_to_the_European_Union

2020 is totally unrealistic. Not sure if the specific figure concerning max debt/GDP ration is included there or not. Perhap you could explain how they clear most of $220 billion in 6 years flat.

in front of his populace before they start freezing this winter.

"Guys, be with me... the freeze will only last 6 years and summer will thaw you each year to give you a breather."

The reality is, even with membership in EU, Ukraine is an economic basket case, totally dependent on Russia just for geographic reasons.

So, joining EU does nothing for Ukraine except for a massive outflow of job seekers to the UK and Germany as they will be permitted to work without visas.

So the Ukraine President is going to join the EU! Well, that is just about as far east as the American Empire can go. Just think, they will have Wal-Mart stores and McDonalds and mayby even have "Clear Radio" to listen to all day.

But, the world banks got together to form the EU in the same manner as the US. It is my understanding that the US was creating havok in the Ukraine, before it all busted loose. There is no secret to US hegemony any where in the world. I really hope that the Ukraine changes it's collective mind, and rejects entering the EU.
