Dr. Ben Carson, a popular Tea Party activist and Fox News contributor who says he will likely seek the Republican nomination for president in 2016, said on Sunday that he is seriously concerned that there will not be 2016 elections in the United States because the country could be in anarchy by that point. His reasons: the growing national debt, ISIS, and the U.S. Senates refusal to consider legislation passed by the GOP-controlled House of Representatives.
Host Chris Wallace noted that in light of his potential presidential campaign, Carsons previous comments were now under a greater spotlight. He noted Carsons August comment that if the Republicans dont win a majority in the Senate this year, the 2016 elections might not even be held and asked the retired neurosurgeon if he stood by it:
WALLACE: You said recently that there might not even be elections in 2016 because of widespread anarchy. Do you really believe that?
CARSON: I hope that thats not going to be the case. But certainly theres the potential because you have to recognize that we have a rapidly increasing national debt, a very unstable financial foundation, and you have all these things going on like the ISIS crisis that could very rapidly change things that are going on in our nation. And unless we begin to deal with these things in a comprehensive way and in a logical way there is no telling what could happen in just a couple of years.

Emergency manager Kevyn Orr will still shepherd bankruptcy process
The Detroit City Council on Thursday unanimously approved a plan to return oversight of daily operations to elected officials while retaining the city's state-appointed emergency manager to oversee bankruptcy matters until they are resolved.
Kevyn Orr, who was appointed by the state in March 2013 to manage Detroit's troubled finances and who took the city into the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, said Thursday that Detroit is "more than ready for the change."
"This is really a good day for the city," he said before signing Order 42, which transfers power back to the council and Mayor Mike Duggan. "We have a little bit more to go, but this is the right thing to do."
Orr had gradually been returning responsibilities to elected officials and is still expected to testify during the city's bankruptcy trial, which is scheduled to last until mid-October. His 18-month contract was set to expire this weekend, though he will retain the title of emergency manager.

(14,648 posts)He's a fine GOP tool, that's for sure. I know this elderly couple living in a christian based retirement community ...Ben Carson's propaganda books are being peddled there... This couple now believes all his fear mongering as do other residents. It's pitiful.
Nothing I can do as they are 90 years old and convinced for example that President Obama is letting all the illegal aliens crossing the Mexican boarder the right to vote so he can steal another election.

(14,648 posts)I'm just playing along with this elderly couple as they are stone strong covienced of the coming Armageddon, Obama is destroying the Constitution.etc...They think I am almost stupid when I don't accept their warnings. The reason I see this couple is to give the husband and IV infusion monthly. The wife is reading Ben Carson's second book...I do my best to avoid politics but even answering them minimally is difficult.
