Gwen Graham says she doesn't support Pelosi, despite Democrats' vote
Source: Tampa Bay Times
Despite a reported unanimous voice vote, Rep.-elect Gwen Graham says she did not support Nancy Pelosi today for another term as Democratic leader. Graham has pledged during the campaign against Steve Southerland to oppose Pelosi, who became a central figure in TV ads in the race.
We need new leadership in both parties to move forward, and thats why I didnt give my support to Nancy Pelosi today," Graham told the Tampa Bay Times in a statement. "When the vote for leadership happens in January, I will support someone who I believe can bring people together to solve problems.
If Graham opposed her, she didn't speak up. As the Washington Post reported, quoting an aide, "There were 'no nays audible in room.' " We asked Graham's team why she did not speak up. "She did," replied via email Eric Jotkoff, an advisor. "It was just drowned out by the other people voting."
Republicans jumped on the vote and said Graham had broken a campaign pledge. "So what happened to Gwen Graham bucking her own party? Typical say and do anything to get elected politician. Someone should ask Gwen why she went back on her word," said the NRCC's Katie Prill.

Wow! just wow! And the Florida Democratic Party came out of the losses saying the 'progressive label, ideas, and candidates did not work. 'We must use the Gwen Graham stategy".
Are you kidding me????? She ran close to the panhandle, which is considered Georgia, or Alabama!
Hardly like the rest of the state. She got republicans to vote for her, in this way. I don't like this.....

(3,711 posts)Democratic officeholders need to realize that going against a more progressive proposition in order to curry more favor with right-leaning independents and moderate Republicans - DOES...NOT...WORK.
They'll vote against you no matter what you do. So, you might as well go all-in with the Democratic agenda and keep the base on your side.

(11,297 posts)fucking thing remotely close to impeach on.
Meanwhile, the Pelosi Disaster had a war criminal in office, and she covered for him, claiming it was "off the table."
I will never, ever -- ever -- understand that, unless you really are actually covering for a war criminal.
Incompetence just doesn't get you there.

(11,297 posts)Even if you aren't actually going to impeach the War Criminal Bush, at least you have that as leverage.
You can make oblique, occasional references to it when you want turn up the heat. You can even more visibly use it as leverage to exact concessions, much like the GOP is threatening Obama if he acts on immigration by executive act. But the bottom line is that you always have it to hold over the GOP's head.
That is, unless you decide intentionally, publicly and inexplicably to give it up.
And "taking it off the table," is beyond complicity, it is active obstruction. It makes no sense for any reasons whatsoever, that is, unless you are actually taking orders to cover for a live war criminal in office.
For this, she will always be the Pelosi Disaster, an embarrassment, who turned her back on us and on fundamental justice, simply a piece of shit.
