Just when you think the War of Christmas was won
the Grinch rears his ugly head.
The new front opened at New Yorks La Guardia Airport, where an American Airlines crew had the audacity to decide to wish passengers a Merry Christmas on Christmas Eve. One passenger doth protest, however, and was eventually thrown off American Airlines Flight 1140 to Dallas after taking serious offense to the holiday greeting.
The situation unfolded as the unnamed passengertraveling alonewas wished a Merry Christmas as he and other passengers boarded the plane, to which the curmudgeon reportedly said angrily to one of the female attendants, You shouldnt say that because not everyone celebrates Christmas.

This is getting so old. Like one commenter said, if a simple greeting sends you into a rage, then you must have it pretty easy. Most people have real problems.

(52,388 posts)These days flying is a stressful experience and flight attendants should be able to tolerate comments like that. If that was all he said and done.

(116,026 posts)his life. For me, I hardly had such an easy life but was grieving and being told to be happy was to much. Cut others some slack because you don't really know what is happening with them and to judge and insult is wrong.

(124 posts)Sounds like a case of too drunk to fly.
For some reason, I always seem to get seated behind a row of drunks. One time I remarked thus to my seat mate while bucking in. The people in the row in front of me got up moved to another seat. My face burned.
Sometimes you have to stand up for freedom of speech and freedom of conscience, and sometimes you have to shut up stop being an asshole.

(146,218 posts)Someone else had the audacity to say Merry Christmas and that was just the last straw for him. He was so abusive and disruptive that the other passengers cheered when he was escorted off the plane.
This story was posted earlier in the religion group and journeyman posted this great graphic:

(11,014 posts)I don't celebrate Christmas either but if someone wishes me Merry Christmas, I wish them back. They mean well and are only being polite.
Why get into rage? If you're a Sun worshiper and someone says "good night," do you unload vitriol on that person? I'm glad he was thrown out.

(58,724 posts)NY Post is a right-wing tabloid rag that is the only source of this so-called story that so many different outlets seem to enjoy reposting - but all linking back to the NY Post which has no one on record confirming any of these events actually took place.
They have no statement from the supposed passenger (neither on the record nor anonymous), no statement from the supposed flight attendant (neither on the record nor anonymous), and no statement from anyone claiming to have witnessed these events (neither on the record nor anonymous).
Yet, the NY Post somehow was able to provide a transcription of the exact conversation that took place in the boarding area for this flight to Dallas (utilizing three reporters to do so - with none claiming to have been at the location or spoken to anyone at the scene).
