Jeb Bush Clear Front-Runner In Latest Poll For Republican Presidential Race
Source: UK Daily Mail 12:33 EST, 29 December 2014
Jeb Bush has surged into the lead in the Republican presidential candidate race according to the latest poll. The surge in popularity follows his announcement last week to 'actively explore' a bid to run in the 2016 race.
According to the survey by CNN in conjunction with ORC, he is the choice of nearly a quarter (24 per cent) of GOP supporters interviewed and ten points ahead of his closest rival, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (13 per cent). Physician Ben Carson came in third with 7 per cent of the support, while Senator Rand Paul and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee were tied for fourth with 6 per cent.
It is the first time that a GOP potential has led beyond a poll's margin of error in the past two years. However, of the Republicans polled, some said they were less likely to vote for him on some of the issues he has encountered as the Governor of Florida. For example 42 per cent say his description of illegal immigration as an 'act of love' make them less likely to support Bush, but another 39 per cent say it makes no difference to them.
In the Democratic race, Hilary Clinton is still the runaway favorite, with two-thirds of support within her party. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is the closest to her, but with a distant 9 per cent. Last week Bush showed more signs he was preparing for a run at the White House. He stopped booking paid speeches, though he will follow through on previous commitments through early next year.

(28,498 posts)Diebold was at the center of Ohios 2004 election debacle, much of this captured in an article by Free Press Senior Editor Harvey Wasserman and this author, entitled, Diebolds Political Machine. Walden "Wally" O'Dell, chairman of the board and chief executive of Diebold, was a long-time funder of Republican candidates. In September 2003, he held a packed $1,000-per-head GOP fundraiser at his 10,800-square-foot mansion Cotswold Manor in Upper Arlington, Ohio. He was feted as a guest at then-President George W. Bush's Texas ranch, joining a cadre of Pioneers and Rangers who pledged to raise more than $100,000 for the Bush reelection campaign.
Most memorably, in 2003 O'Dell penned a letter pledging his commitment to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the President. O'Dell defended his actions, telling the Cleveland Plain Dealer I'm not doing anything wrong or complicated. But he also promised to lower his political profile and try to be more sensitive. But the Diebold boss' partisan cards were squarely on the table.
Prior to the 2004 election, Blackwell tried to award a $100 million unbid contract to Diebold for electronic voting machines. A storm of public outrage and a series of lawsuits forced him to cancel the deal. But a substantial percentage of Ohio's 2004 votes were counted by Diebold software and Diebold Opti-scan machines which frequently malfunctioned in the Democratic stronghold of Toledo. It was revealed in 2006 that Blackwell owned Diebold stock.
Diebold's GEMS election software was used in about half of Ohio counties in the 2004 election. Because of Blackwell's effort, 41 counties also used Diebold machines in Ohio's highly dubious 2005 election.
Also in the Ohio 2004 election, a whistleblower leaked documents revealing that Diebold had allegedly used illegal, uncertified hardware and software during California election.

(11,841 posts)And when they lose they'll blame it on not having a candidate who is "conservative enough". Oh, how I wish they would run Ted Cruz. Since he's a "true" conservative, when he lost by 10+, what would be the excuse then? "The liberals stole the election!!" Either that or having to admit the bulk of the country doesnt WANT THAT TYPE.

(1,290 posts)A scary thought if they ran Cruz would be a Nadar type candidate would run as Independant because they would see Hillary as too DINO and or close to Wall Street and Cruz would win just like in 2000. SCARY thought!!

2. America will not elect another Clinton...nor a woman (sorry, women).
If we Dems do not get a solid, calm, cool, collected male with (what appears to be) a common sense voice...it will be a landslide for another (fucking) Bush.
The Dem would also need a spine and "brass"...we a probably lacking a candidate that has both.

(11,841 posts)or read the comments after any article about Jeb being the favorite. Hell, read the comments after the article in the OP!!! They stayed home for Romney too. Thats the difference between them and the left. A lot of folks here would rather Hillary NOT be the candidate, but if she IS the huge majority WILL vote for her. The right will stick out their bottom lip and sit home bitching.
Yes, all in my opinion of course. But Obama got several million fewer votes in '12 than in 08 and he MAY have been beaten if the right had been enthused about their supposed "RINO"
they have expertise in taking that office without winning an election.

(11,841 posts)Remember, Obama got millions fewer votes in 12 than in 08; if everything was rigged, he wouldve lost. Sure, there were problems, but there were also problems with R votes registering as D votes. Likely a screen calibration issue. Doesnt mean we shouldnt insist on paper trails for machines though
Dont give them more credit than they actually deserve!

(2,188 posts)So if they both win their Party's primaries, someone has to win. Even a super-strong Independent isn't going to win. The most in the last 100+ years was Perot in 1992 with 19%.
7962
(11,841 posts)I've read multiple threads about other candidates, and when push comes to shove, most here say they would still rather have Hillary than whoever the GOP candidate would be. And I think DU is to the left of most of the Dem party, so I think the huge majority of Dems would vote for her even if they preferred someone else.
But you bring up an interesting point; Perot was an oddball and got 19%. What if there WAS and Independent candidate who was a popular well known, man/woman? It could be interesting.

(11,841 posts)But Clinton also has a crew to squash whatever comes up. Look how they dealt with Bill's "women problem". There may have been a right-wing conspiracy, but I believe a LOT of those women told the truth. Their people diverted everyone with a shiny object and that was that.
But I do believe she is her own biggest enemy. She doesnt talk "off the cuff" very well at all.

Democrats are sheep, but it's much harder to get them to look at the new toy in the window. Republicans, not so much.
The following 2012 GOP primary chart from the link below says it all.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/republican_presidential_nomination-1452.html
First it was Romney,
then Bachmann got a bump,
then Perry took the lead,
then Cain,
then Gingrich,
then Romney again,
then Gingrich,
then Santorum,
and then finally Romney.
Each took the lead after getting positive press at one particular point in that race.

When Jeb Bush completed two terms as governor of Florida in 2007, he reported his net worth at $1.3 million, about $700,000 less than when he took office.
Today, nearly eight years later, he is a wealthier man. He has plunged into business and entrepreneurial ventures involving consulting, the paid lecture circuit and energy development. He has developed real estate, advised international investment banks and joined high-paying corporate boards.

FYI, the "Inner Party GOP" refers to the small, insular cabal of individuals and dynasties who the Republican Party exists exclusively to serve at all costs. And I mean all costs - treason, war, torture, murder, election rigging, etc.
If an Inner Party Republican runs and we field anyone other than our absolute best candidate on every front - both campaign competence and party base enthusiasm - defeat would be our most likely outcome.
