CAMDEN, N.J.
Several police officers formed a human net to catch a woman and her two young daughters as they jumped from their burning home in southern New Jersey.
Camden County police said the fire on Atlantic Avenue in Camden was reported around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, when residents notified two officers who happened to be on patrol in the area. They told them the woman and her children, ages 4 and 7, were trapped on the home's second floor.
Two other police officers soon arrived at the home, and all four gained entry by kicking open the front door. They tried to find the family, but thick smoke and heavy flames hampered their efforts.
One officer collapsed and was helped out of the home as another officer shouted for the mother to take her children to a rear window, police said.

(67,782 posts)...with the bad ones.
In fact, I'd be willing to bet that many bad cops only get a chance to show their bad side only once. Very few bad cops, even fewer "repeat" offenders.
Can anyone here actually quantify the number of "bad" cops in NYC out of the roughly 35,000 police officers?

(29,929 posts)found that the most troubling aspect wasn't the corruption but the unwillingness from the department to police itself. Then there was the cop from 2013 who blew the whistle to target young black males for stop and frisk claims he was also called a rat and ostracized within the department. Police Chief Magazine also has an excellent series on "noble cause corruption".

(93,614 posts)you don't see teachers react to teachers who have sex with students by protecting those teaachers from losing their job and saying there are many good ones who aren't like that.

(30,058 posts)For the most part law enforcement officers has positive results. Many officers are dedicated to being the best they can be, they encounter many different citizens every day, they are here to do a job and they some cooperation.

(7,745 posts)Incidents like this can you remember? I remember a handful of incidents like this too. I personally wouldn't claim something is "Not uncommon" based on a handful of memories.
You are claiming something is "Not uncommon" but the only thing you are basing it on is a handful of sensational stories from corporate infotainment.
