Snow falls in Middle East as strong winter storm strikes

Snow has fallen across parts of the Middle East as part of a strong winter storm moving through the region.

Snow accumulated in the Golan Heights and northern Israel on Wednesday morning, as well as the mountains of Lebanon. Schools across Jerusalem closed ahead of a forecast warning of 10 inches (25 centimeters) of snowfall.

Many worried about the storm in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, where hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria's civil war live, many in tents.

Heavy fogs also blanketed parts of Pakistan on Wednesday morning. Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority said officials temporarily closed Islamabad's Benazir Bhutto International Airport due to the weather, diverting incoming flights to Lahore.

2. The weather is not the same in Gaza, they will not get snow and lowest forcast at night is 38 F with

 

a high of 51 on Friday when Jerusalem will be in the 30's with snow. Certainly chilly relative to average, but much different than inland.
